Boston College Pre-Req - Life Sci Chem?

Published

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anyone had any advice or ideas to what exactly this course is (or what BC is looking for exactly) and where you know of in the Boston area that offers this particular brand of Chemistry:

Life Science Chemistry w/Lab or Organic Chemistry w/Lab

General Chemistry will not be accepted

I understand the Orgo. part, but Life Sci. Chem? I need to start finding places that offer these courses and Bunker Hill currently does not. Any ideas or, have you have to take this over the summer in Boston as well? If so, where?

Any help would be most appreciated!

I got into Adult NP too... :) I am excited...minus financing BC I am ready for pretty much anything! I have been working directly with patients (albeit in a research setting) for 4 years so I am ready to actually TREAT people! How feasible is a part-time job? Something minimal, to avoid malnutrition and the like?

Sooo I made a finaly decision, and it looks like I'm going to Yale. Even though BC is a fantastic program, I absolutely fell in love with Yale's program when I interviewed there, and they are ranked very high for the specialty I want to do. I also feel more comfortable with it being 3 years rather than 2 (just a personal choice). I also think it will be good for me to get out of Boston for a little since I've grown up here and go out here all the time. I kind of want a new enviornment before settling down. Who knows, maybe I could go to BC for a PhD? haha. It was soooo hard for me to decide between these school and I kept going back and forth but I finally just made a decision. For those of you going, congrats! BC's program is super competitive and I know you all will make amazing APRNs!!!

Congrats on your decision, and good luck! How much is Yale going to cost you (just curious)?

Hi,

It sounds like you are in a similar situation to me - two teenagers, married, live on the South Shore. I am hoping to start a direct entry NP program Fall 2010, but thought BC might be too intense given the two-year time-frame and juggling family, etc. Can you give me a sense of what the class schedules were like? Were you really able to work, as well? I'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences, as I'm determined but intimidated by all the juggling...
