Has anyone applied to this program for fall 2010?

Is anyone in this program?

Any advice for someone who wants to apply?

Hi,

I'm a recent grad of this program. Just so you know, BC only accepts about 10% of applicants. They are looking for people who have very strong academic records, but a high GPA isn't enough. They really like people who have life/work experience that shows a commitment to patient care and well being. They're big on social justice and volunteer work. If you have these experiences, play them up in your admission essays. The program is very intense if you go full time, and you won't have a lot of free time. However, I think I got a good education and the BC name opened some doors for me. I would also recommend making an appointment to talk with someone there if you haven't already done so.

Good luck!

Thaank you very much for the tips!

What kind of funding (if any) do they offer? As a single person in my 40's with a mortgage to pay, I'm not sure how I'd pull of the $70k tuition bill but love the idea of getting my masters degree in 21 months.

Like another poster, I think I have a strong background in high gpa, long history of volunteer work & experience in a hospital setting. Still, with a 10% acceptance rate, I'm sure many great candidates may still be turned away.

Any experience folks in this program have had with grants, scholarships & loans that they can share would be greatly appreciated.

I did not get any grants from BC, probably because I'm married and had my husband's income to rely on. However, BC took care of getting almost all of my loans, which was very helpful. You fill out your FAFSA and the BC financial aid form, and they get back to you with your loan breakdown. I only had to borrow $3000 through private loans, cause BC found me the rest through Stafford and Perkins loans. I know other people in my class did get some grant money from BC, so they do give some.

Is an interview part of the admissions process for the master's entry program? It doesn't say anything about one on their website. Thanks.

I don't believe they interview.

Thanks. So if they just send out admissions decisions, when do they usually do that by?

I think I heard some time in January.

I applied for fall 2010 and got a rejection letter via email this week :( Hopefully the other schools I applied to don't follow suit!
