Hello,
I've applied to Boston College's Master's Entry Program for 2011. Has anyone else applied? If so, have you heard back yet?
Hi everyone!
I didn't find out until March that I got in too as a WHNP. I'm so glad people are on this forum, I've been getting worried I wouldn't be able to meet anyone or talk to anyone before orientation, or even get a feel for the program! Congratulations to all those who have gotten in, you all sound so nice.
So my name is Bindu and I'm 24...I graduated from Penn State last year. :) I am from Pennsylvania so though every experience I've had in Boston has been spectacular, moving further from home makes me a little sad.
I was thinking about creating a Facebook group so that we all could meet each other a little bit before getting to BC. What do you think?
lynzie895 I also have a question or two for you! Do you think that a science background helps in any way in terms of understanding classes? What's been the easiest transition to make and what's been the most difficult thing about this program? Thanks for giving us some perspective on all of this.
I think creating a facebook group would be wonderful! What we can do is create one, and then have someone in admin send the link out to the upcoming class!
Lynzie- going off what Bindu said about the science background- do you know anyone who took advanced physiology vs. the regular course? Did they say it was much more difficult? Thanks!!
Congrats Bindu17!! Great news for me as well :) I found out on Wednesday that a spot opened up for me, pediatrics! I am ecstatic, and can't wait to meet everyone and get started! Please do start the facebook group, i can message you my name/e-mail. Now all I need to do is pass Chem this semester and I'm all set ;D
Good luck to everyone who hasn't heard yet and I look forward to meeting you Lynzie and CaliNurse!
Bindu17- Apparently I can't private message either, not enough posts yet, haha....So I'm thinking you can search me on FB- Caroline S, Boston?? I'm hesitant to put my e-mail on the thread, or if you give me the group name...I can search it and add you and request membership!? Have a great weekend!
To answer Bindu & Calinurse..
I don't believe a science background is anymore helpful. We're all required to take the same pre-reqs and those are the science classes our learning is based off of. There are students who have a science background, but I majored in political science, never took a science class in undergrad and feel I'm doing just fine!
Calinurse, I'm going to assume you're referring to the advanced pathophysiology class? There were students who took it, people who had a strong science background. I didn't hear the best reviews about the class though. I don't think they liked the teacher very much? That being said, the regular pathophysiology teacher was awful too, but she's retiring this year and you'll have a brand new teacher! Overall though, I don't feel those students felt they gained anything significant by taking the advanced class

Thanks so much Linzie, I hope I hear some good news! If not, I'll definitely apply again next year.
Calinurse- That is so awesome, congrats on getting in!!
