Books on first day of class?

Is it pretty normal to go to the first day of class without your book? I ask because they don't start selling them until 8:30 on Monday and I'm lucky if my MIL gets here at 9 for me to get to class by 9:30. I know there will be a long line and I am unsure of what text he is using anyways because each instructor is different for this class. I thought I would just go get it after class that day...what do you think?

Do we really need to lug all of those hundred of pounds of book to lecture and lab? Please tell me no...........otherwise I'll have to get one of those tow-behind trailers! LOL We have 15 books for the fall semester.

The good news is that no, you shouldn't normally need to carry the books around with you. Even if an instructor refers to something during lecture, I just jot a note - see p. _____. Unless you need to do studying away from home, I don't see the point of carrying 15 lb. textbooks with you.

The good news is that many of those 15 books you bought for the fall will carry over - until you get to specialties you probably won't buy that many new books at once again. :)

In my class we always ask the instuctors which books we should bring and which are ones we can keep at home for reference. The instructors usually tell us one or two books to bring every class and then they will sometimes add one we will need on a particular day.

In the past year I have had to buy 24 books/workbooks/references/etc. for my nursing classes and every book we buy for one class is considered a required book for all following classes from which reading assignments and homework can be assigned. If I had to bring them all everyday I'd have to hire an assistant or two in order to haul all of them in.
