Boards in Georgia

Anyone here from Georgia that finished the Excelsior Associate Degree in Nursing? Did you apply to the state of Georgia, or did you go else where? Have anyone here received their license from Georgia since the whole preceptor ship deal? Are there any LPN's here that was able to skip the extra preceptor ship hours due to qualifying LPN clinical hours? Has anyone here contacted the representative for students on this behalf? I am just trying to figure this all out before my grad date..thanks.:uhoh3:

I'am an EC grad from Ga. I took boards for Ga. I didn't need to do preceptor hours because I was enrolled before July 2008 but I had to provide proof of acute care exp. they even wanted to know about my LPN program and I was an LPN 24 years. You may be able to skip the preceptor hours but they will ask for details. Leo2

Leo2,

Thank you so much for your response. As it is music to my ears!! I to enrolled before that time, and practice as an LPN for 12 years..I really wanted to test in Ga, and then reciprocate to FL. But, if the preceptorship hours were being imposed then I would just probably sit for FL. I would love to ask you more questions, but I am not certain as to how to go about it here..any tips? thanks.

I called the board, they were very helpful, very picky but helpful. They wanted to know exactly what my LPN clinicals were had to come directly from the school, and the hospital I had worked at had to verify #of hours worked. They want to make sure you had clinicals in peds, Ob, psych. Leo2

I am still waiting for an answer. They declined Long term care facilities, nursing homes so far. I enrolled before 2008 also but my employer where I have worked for 11 yrs. refuse to give information on details about my OB,PEDS,Adult experience to the board. I am working with EC attorneys but still waiting 6 mos now. I have to option of not challenging the decision and going to Macon, Ga. but it's too far away. Many over 400 are still stuck in the tubes.

I decided to apply to sit for FL BON.... Excelsior Grads can apply by examination since July 1, 2010. No drama!! Best wishes to all!!
