Boards - Do I qualify to take the exam

Published

HI!

I graduated nursing school in Michigan and I am currently living in OHIO. I graduated Nursing school back in 1998. After being a stay at home mom I am ready to take my boards. I did take my exam a few years ago but I failed. I would like to take the boards again bit since I grated more then 7 years ago am I eligible to take the exam. Any advice would be great. Thanks

If I were you, I'd call the Ohio board of nursing, as they should have the most definitive answer to your question. I would think that you should be able to take NCLEX, but since it has been 10 years, you may have to jump through some hoops. In addition, you were educated in Michigan versus Ohio and I am not sure if this makes a difference with initial licensure. Also, if I were you, I would find a good NCLEX review, review A&P and pharm, and attend a nurse refresher class. Many things have changed since you graduated. Good luck! :D
