I'm a little perplexed here, maybe somebody can help me make sense of all this?
I had contacted my Prof. for Fundamentals of Nursing before the semester even started, asking if he thought I could enter the program and his class, missing the last two classes, the final exam and the last clinical since I was getting married and going on my honeymoon in December (the other option would be to re-apply to the program in the Spring). He said that as long as that's all I missed during the semester, he would allow me to make up the final exam in January when I was back in the country and everything would be fine. I heeded his advice and continued with the course, maintaining a perfect attendance policy, always on time, straight As, etc. I worked very hard during the semester because I didn't want him to think I took his generosity for granted.
I come back from my honeymoon and after a few emails back and forth, he gives me my final exam on 1/11 - after grades were due to the department. He said it was fine - he would give me an incomplete and then update it once he graded my final. I got an A on the final and an A in the course, great! After about a week, however, my online transcript was still showing an "incomplete" next to the course, and all of a sudden my registration for the next course, Nursing 2, disappeared! I contacted him about this, and he said he was having problems getting the grade in the system and that the registrar was not getting back to him - he had tried contacting her 3 times.
I took it upon myself to reach out to Mr. Sierra, the Nursing Academic Adviser who registers all of us for our courses. He told me that all he needed was an email from my Prof. with the grade I got in the course, fair enough, I get my Prof. to email him saying I got an A in the course. Then the grade goes through and I see an A on my transcript, everything seemed fine, except I still didn't see Nursing 2 on there for Spring 2012. I email Mr. Sierra again - I was told to show up to class on Saturday, okay.
On Saturday, my new Prof. did not have my name in her list. She suggested I check with the Registrar. I was told that Mr. Sierra STILL has to register me for the course... in the meantime, I get a letter at home saying I've been dropped from the course since I didn't meet the Fundamentals of Nursing pre req. I immediately email Mr. Sierra again. He gets back to me today telling me I need to stop by his office to fill out an "over tally form"!!!
So, I guess my question is, what can I do? Apparently this form is filled out by the student and needs to get the department's approval. I just feel like this was so unnecessary. I feel completely cheated. I even feel like the quality of my actual education in this course will suffer because the class is SO crowded now with people who failed it last semester. How is this excusable in any way? Is there someone I should complain to? What if my over tally form is not approved?

go fill out the over-tally form. bring along copies of all the emails that document this process, and it will all work out.
this isn't the nursing department's being cranky, it's the computer in the college registrar's office. feed the beast all the paper it wants (and keep documenting how you are doing so). meanwhile, keep going to class and don't worry about it.
