Anyone here work at Blount Memorial in Maryville? If so, how is the working environment? Best areas to work? Pay? Benefits? Tuition assistance for continuing education?
Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

I worked at Blount Mem. right after graduating LPN school from 10-2003 to 01- 2005. I worked 5 North (affectionately called hell north), Oncology/medsurg. I enjoyed the nurses I worked with, but the nurse to pt ratio was rough, 1:13 was the worst that I had. Things are a bit different since I worked there. I know that some areas have been changed.
I never had any big problems with my co-workers or the management staff. I also received tuition reembursement while I was there. 2 North was known to be abit less stressful than 5N while I was there.
Hope this helps. Feel free to ask any other questions. Good Luck and God Bless
Thanks for the response. I'm starting to hear good things through the grapevine about Blount Memorial. I just want to make sure I'm making the right move.
Did you do your LPN training in their program? Just curious. If so, what did you think? Did you go on to RN? You mentioned the tuition reimbursement.
Again, thank you so much for answering my question. You are GREAT!!!
Lady Vol,
No I did not go through Blount's LPN program. I went to Tn Tech at Athens. I started my pre-reqs while I was at Blount, but I left before I actually started the RN program. I do know a few students that signed a contract with Blount and had their entire RN program paid for. If the right position were offered, I would go back to Blount.

I plan on workinng at Blount. I've heard good things about them. I make too much at my current job to leave for an entry level position. I will get my CNA in the spring and will try to get hired on at that time. I was also told that as soon as I start my clinicals I should call and find out if there is a PCT position that works with my hours.
I've looked into the LPN program, I have to wait 2 more years before I can go to a traditional school so it isn't something I'm interested in right now.
Good luck. So are you here in Blount? I'm only about 10 miles from the hospital, out toward Montvale/Carpenters.

Hi Dee78!
Thanks for the response! No, I don't live close to Blount. I live in the Knoxville area, but they have great educational opportunities and that's why I was willing to make the drive.
