Hello,
Recently got invited to interview with Bloomsburg Univeristy this November for fall 2011. Anyone gone to this interview yet? If so, how was it? Any tips you can share? It would really help my anxiety level. I am so nervous.
Thank you. :)
Wow! Congrats to you! And thank you so much for helping me - by sharing ur research so I can decide what program to pursue without wasting too much time or money!
Good luck with ur CRNA! When I worked in the cath lab - other nurses would joke about becoming a CRNA so they could make more money & read their cosmo mag while the pt was - out! I'm thinking there is a little more to it then that- prob just jealous they didn't have the perservence to complete this prestigious degree. I think u are pretty awesome for doing the program - just to let u know.
Hi Fawn!
I am applying to Bloomsbury Uni. for the CRNA exam. Can you please give an advice regarding the interview. Furthermore, I heard that they give their selected applicants question at the end. What does it consist of? I am assuming that are a CRNA by now. Hope your journey was pleasant. Please let me know.
I thought I'd just update this post a little bit since there isn't much information about this program online. The interview day consists of three separate interviews with the directors individually, a simulation, and a one page essay. All of the questions asked relate to YOUR clinical experience such as, "Recall a time in your clinical experience when __________ happened and what did you do about it." My impression of the interview day was that they really want to get to know you personally and get a vibe for how much critical care experience you actually have. In preparation, think about all of your most critical patients, dx, tx, how it affected you as a nurse, what would you change, etc. This will help you to prepare for answering questions. Everyone was very personable and the interview process couldn't have gone any better. Don't stress, you will do fine. The simulation was easy, in my opinion. They have different case scenarios but you only need to do one. It takes less than 5 minutes. You must write the essay while you are waiting for all of your interviews on the down time. It wasn't difficult. Relax, be yourself, show them your personality and you will do well!
So who has gone through the program (or is in the program currently) and has a review of what they think? What are the hours typically like and where are the potential clinical sites? Do you feel supported? Are there any classmates with children or that commuted?
Thank you for any and all advice

Hi. Bloom does still offer an RN to MSN option however that is not your best plan of study if you are wanting to be a NP or a CRNA. I'm not sure about NP, but minimum requirments for CRNA school is a BSN, QPA of at least 3.0, 3 letters of recommendation with one being from a CRNA that you have shadowed for at least 8 hours, at least one year ICU experience within the past 5 years, ACLS, BLS, PALS certification as well as your resume and professional goals statement.
You can get a MSN prior to applying to CRNA school but it wouldn't really be to your advantage. You would still have to do the whole CRNA program. At Bloom (and every other CRNA school in Pa), you obtain your MSN and a certificate in nurse anesthesia while in the program. And I don't think any CRNA school's accept transfer credits, so even though you would have already taken some of the classes while getting your MSN in another specialty, you would still have to take those classes again while in the CRNA program.
I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, let me know. I can only tell you what I have found in my research of CRNA programs, but I am willing to help in any way :-)
I did get into the CRNA program at Bloom. I start May 23rd. Can't wait!!
