Okay,
I just got my acceptance letter in the mail today!!
I was going totally mental with anxiety, checking this board several times a day to see when people were hearing back, compared to when they had applied and what their stats were. I was also very nervous about how I had done on the TEAS, so I wanted to post my info to help other people a little. Here are my stats:
I applied to the school January 4th, 2010. I took the TEAS January 23rd, 2010.
Previous BA degree in anthropology. I graduate in August of 2009 with a 3.46 cumulative GPA.
I took A&P I last fall, at Gateway: B
Developmental Psych: A
TEAS: 81.2% (mean national was 72.8% and the mean for the program 73.3%)
My adjusted individual scores were as follows:
Reading: 82.5%
Math: 82.2%
Science: 70%
English: 85.5%
In all my nervousness, I called two days ago and was told that I would likely hear back from the in school 4-6 weeks. Then I got my letter today, February 5th. For the record, my admissions essay was based on a CNA training course I took in the fall and I also think that having a previous BA really helped, especially in seeing past that nasty 70% in the science section of the TEAS.
Good luck and I hope this information was helpful, or at least of interest, to some of you!!
Hello Ladybug15:)
I'm new to this thread business but I gotta tell you that I can totally understand what you're going through. I submitted my application December 12, 2009 and took my teas exam January 23, 2010 and I haven't received anything:crying2: I'm so anxious to know! I called the secretary yesterday and she said the committee is reviewing my application. I'm driving myself crazy:banghead:
YMNURSE - Hang it there!!!! It shouldn't be much longer before they make a decision. I would think you should definitely hear by the end of next week. I took the TEAS on the 26th of January and the secretary told me that timing goes by when you took the TEAS. Good luck to you! I have my fingers crossed for both of us!!! Please let us know when you find out. :)
I notice you are from another country. Are you moving to CT or have you recently just moved?
I was born and raised in New York (Bronx) but moved to CT 2 years ago. I'm puertorican that's why you see the nice looking flag there :).. I just registered with allnurses.com so I'm a bit slow at it:sstrs: so please bare with me.. Anyways, the wait is just insane. I hope we both get our letters soon. I know someone that submitted her paperwork and took the exam the same time I did and she wasn't accepted. I will keep my fingers crossed for the both of us!! Good Luck:)
AAAH, that makes sense! I actually live in NYC now but was born and raised in CT. If accepted, I'd move back in with the rents until I finish school.
No worries... we were all new to this site at one point. You'll get the hang of this site in no time!
Awww, that's too bad that your friend didn't get in. Maybe it's a good sign that it is taking them longer to review your file. Try not to worry, although I know it is almost impossible not to! I just caught myself biting my nails, which is so unlike me!
Fingers crossed (toes too!)
So I FINALLY received my letter today...I got in!!!!! I'm so excited, I just can't contain myself!!! Hehe!!!
Now I know how you felt BAanthro. We're going to be classmates!!!! :heartbeat :heartbeat
Drinks all around! *wine
And in case others want to know, it was a 2 page letter. You could actually see the writing through the envelope because the second page has double sided text.
Ok, time to go tell everyone else the good news...
