BHSN-Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing Fall 2011

Okay,

I just got my acceptance letter in the mail today!!

I was going totally mental with anxiety, checking this board several times a day to see when people were hearing back, compared to when they had applied and what their stats were. I was also very nervous about how I had done on the TEAS, so I wanted to post my info to help other people a little. Here are my stats:

I applied to the school January 4th, 2010. I took the TEAS January 23rd, 2010.

Previous BA degree in anthropology. I graduate in August of 2009 with a 3.46 cumulative GPA.

I took A&P I last fall, at Gateway: B

Developmental Psych: A

TEAS: 81.2% (mean national was 72.8% and the mean for the program 73.3%)

My adjusted individual scores were as follows:

Reading: 82.5%

Math: 82.2%

Science: 70%

English: 85.5%

In all my nervousness, I called two days ago and was told that I would likely hear back from the in school 4-6 weeks. Then I got my letter today, February 5th. For the record, my admissions essay was based on a CNA training course I took in the fall and I also think that having a previous BA really helped, especially in seeing past that nasty 70% in the science section of the TEAS.

Good luck and I hope this information was helpful, or at least of interest, to some of you!!

hey guys! i just sent in my application, and wasjsut wondering when i would hear back? i take my TEAS friday. does it take til winter to hear back?

i think the earliest acceptances were in late december last year. GOOD LUCK!

Do any of you know the schedule if you do the partial-evening option?

from september until january you go tuesdays about 830 until 4 the latest, wednesday is about 5 until 9 and thursday is 5 until 10. from january until may tuesday and wednesday and are the same and thursday and friday are 3 until 11. then in may the nights have to change to days for the rest of the time.

from september until january.. it is either thursday 5 until 10 or friday 5 until 10.. then jan til may it is both.. sorry i only have thursday.. but there is a friday group too

Thank You so much. I am requested Evening on my acceptance form. If I don't get evenings I probably won't be able to attend.

I have another question. Can you request financial aid to more than one school? I am going to do everything I can to make this work. I am sooo excited about this program.

more people choose days so you will have a spot at nights if you get accepted. the people on that got picked off the wait list last year mostly got put in nights so there will proabbly be spots open.

yea you can choose as many financial aid schools as you apply to. you will probably going to have to take student loans too the financial aid doesnt cover it all. they send you all that though once you get accepted.

good luck!!!

They haven't sent me anything about financial aid, just a acceptance form and a letter about the $150 tuition deposit. Do they tell you if you are days or evening when you get your orientation information? I want to apply for aid Janurary 1st. Thank You so much for replying again. I never went to a session I will try to go in February.

you probably got nights if you picked it. they would have told you if it was switched. most student dont want to be in nights so there will be spots if you picked it expecially if you are already accepted.. CONGRATULATIONS BY THE WAY!! you should get a package about financial aid. i think they wait until after january and after you apply to send it out. it doesnt really matter when you apply.. i didnt last year until may and all of mine went through. i didnt go to an information either. they send it to you and tell you how much aid you qualify for and how much loans you qualify for and then if you still owe how much you need to pay or take our in loans. they dont send orientation information until like april or may.

did you apply anywhere else? do you have all your prereqs and coreqs done? if you dont mind me asking...

I applied to GCC also, I am finishing micro tuesday

Hi Ladybug,

Thanks for posting such useful information about BHSN.

I also applied for 2011, but am concerned about the TEAS. I took it and scored a 79.3%, which put me into the 90th percentile. when you view it categorically, however, although I excelled in Science and English, I did poorly in Math and Reading. Does the school base their decision on the overall or individual category scores?

Thanks,

Ginamarie

im pretty sure its the overall score. i think that i got an 82 and got accepted so that isnt a bad score. expecially if you have a good gpa i wouldnt worry about it. i know it is soooo stressful though. i applied in january last year and i didnt get accepted until the end of may and i just kept stressing over every little thing. i went over my transcript like 100000000 times.. i read my essay over and over.. i picked apart every little thing and i drove my self CRAZZZZYY!!! i think they look at everything.. one thing is not more important its the whole package. GOOOOD LUCKK!!
