Okay,

I just got my acceptance letter in the mail today!!

I was going totally mental with anxiety, checking this board several times a day to see when people were hearing back, compared to when they had applied and what their stats were. I was also very nervous about how I had done on the TEAS, so I wanted to post my info to help other people a little. Here are my stats:

I applied to the school January 4th, 2010. I took the TEAS January 23rd, 2010.

Previous BA degree in anthropology. I graduate in August of 2009 with a 3.46 cumulative GPA.

I took A&P I last fall, at Gateway: B

Developmental Psych: A

TEAS: 81.2% (mean national was 72.8% and the mean for the program 73.3%)

My adjusted individual scores were as follows:

Reading: 82.5%

Math: 82.2%

Science: 70%

English: 85.5%

In all my nervousness, I called two days ago and was told that I would likely hear back from the in school 4-6 weeks. Then I got my letter today, February 5th. For the record, my admissions essay was based on a CNA training course I took in the fall and I also think that having a previous BA really helped, especially in seeing past that nasty 70% in the science section of the TEAS.

Good luck and I hope this information was helpful, or at least of interest, to some of you!!

The information YMBX provided sounds right, after all this time waiting for the last of us to take the TEAS, they should be able to mail all letters out this week. Acceptance, Denials and Wait List. There would be no other reason to hold back now. :)

hey guys bad news here... i met with my advisor at school and if i take 6 classes next semester i can graduate early with a bachelors in public health (which was supposed to be my minor) but yea to make a longs story short my mom is the one paying for school and said that she is refusing to pay anything for any other school except southern because I can have a bachelors in one more semester and if i go to BHSN in the fall i will have been in school for 5 yrs and get a certificate. She said that she will pay for nursing school after i get my BPH. I understand where shes coming from and it will make it easier to get a job if i choose to work at a hospital besides bridgeport if they even do that when/if i end up there but its just disappointing. My letter is in the mail so i dont know if i got in or not yet but even if I did I have to turn the offer down...my life sucks at the moment :crying2:

benedicth2,

I'm sorry to hear that, would it be possible to take summer classes? Like if you could do 3-4 summer classes then all you would have is 2 classes left and you could possibly complete those online along with BHSN.

i thought about doing that but they are only offering 2 of the classes i need over the summer. I also considered opting into the night program for BHSN and doing a full semester at SCSU as well but that is just gonna be way to much work and i would have to half ass a lot of it and i dont want to do that or put myself through that stress.

Oh no… :( :( :(

Can you take the other classes they don't offer online, then have them transferred? Or do you have to take them at your school?

If you can at least take one more class online in the summer, then you can probably manage to take 3 classes along with the nurses classes over the fall and spring semesters (if you don't work!). Just a thought! I would hate to see that you've been accepted and you have to turn it down if there are other options. The question you have to really ask yourself is, how badly do you want to be a nurse? If you can't see yourself being happy doing anything else, then you might want to try work in your other classes into your BHSN schedule. I would hate to see you regret any decisions!

Update - first semester is supposed to be the easiest, so if you had to take 3 classes you should probably do 2 in the fall and only one in the spring.

Also, if you think about it, the schedule is designed to fit in 2 co-reqs each semester along with the nursing classes. While it is not the most ideal situation, it is still doable. One current student at BHSN works roughly 24 hours per week, which is less time than you'd spend on two regular classes per week. So if they can do it, I just know you can! :)

I guess it is a moot point if you don't happen to get in, but something tells me that you did. :heartbeat You must still be anxious to hear if you've been accepted or not.

Hi Guys,

Usually the last 30 or so credits have to be completed at the school your graduating from but as Ladybug15 stated were probably also stressing since we don't know if we've been accepted. I can understand your parents wanting you to get a degree before starting BHSN, you can do both. I actually walked with my class and came back to finish I think 6 credits. So technically I graduated and the degrees were mailed later.

 i still didnt get a letter today! i really dont know how much longer i can take this! its really driving me CRAZY!!

Any letters received today?? If they mailed some out at the end of last week, they should be arriving today or tomorrow.

still no letter today.....

Ugh! Perhaps tomorrow then, EEK! Did they tell you it was mailed out already? I'm guessing it is good news!
