Hi Minnielynn,

I have applied to the program and have been asked back for an interview. From the open house they said that you should try to get your application in as soon as possible because applications that get in early tend to be looked at on their own for admission. If you wait til the deadline your application is grouped with everyone else that submitted their application on the deadline when being reviewed for admission. So, your chances of acceptance are better the earlier you get your whole application in.

The NLN exam wasn't too bad. The math and verbal felt pretty SAT like, the science was my hardest part since I haven't taken a science class since high school (10 years ago) and I while I don't have the results back I must have done well to get the interview.

Another requirement is two letter's of recommendation.

Has anyone applied to this school? I heard that it was easy to get into the program, but upon calling today that's not so.
They have a program that runs Thursday evening, Friday all day and Sat all day. To qualify for this program you have to have all of your pre-reqs out of the way (incl. science's) so all you do is the clinicals, which is wonderful. Well, I called today to see how competitive it is, and I was told that about 1,200 apply and only 100 are accepted. The criteria is the following : high school transcripts or ged, GPA transfer credits and you have to pass the NLN pre entrance exam, they choose from the highest precentile first, and from what i hear its pretty hard.
My question .....does anyone here attend Beth Israel and if yes ..... how did you prepare and for how long? This program is great for me but I feel its just as competitve as any CUNY school.

hi, i got accepted in beth 2 years ago for the ATOP program which is offered only 2 a week from 7am-7pm. there were 600 applicants, but only 8 of us got accepted, the reason they said that mostly werent that serious or qualified enough. i dont know exactly what they're looking from, coz i never took my pharma and nutrition. anyway, 8 of us ended taking nutrition classes and the program was postphoned to the following sem. to make the long story short, i decided to apply for the regular program. A friend of mine who works there told me about LICH, they have the same continuum and dean. I stayed with LICH coz i think having my experiences from both school, i'd say i love it here better. not too much pressure, instructors are great!! i didnt do that much preperation. i came from la guardia college so i had A&P already. i studied the nln, that you have to take seriously. buy the books, it helps a lot. have a very convincing reference letter, and make a good essay. take time in reflecting to yourself why you really wana be a nurse. dont lose hope, you can do it. :) good luck

Thanks for responding. Did you apply for the day or the evening program? I heard that for the evening program you need to have your pre-reqs completed & of course the nln pre-entrance. I can only attend evening so I am going to apply to the evening once my pre-reqs are completed, and I believe that you can apply for the evening year round? I am not sure but thats what I heard. Well I wish you the best of luck and let us know how you like it, I am sure you will get in!!!!

i studied the nln, that you have to take seriously. buy the books, it helps a lot.

Thats my main concern the nln exam, i heard that's tough, not because of the material but the time allowed. I have several books that i have not looked at due to school (have enough reading:chuckle ) , but during the summer i am going to make those prep books my novels:)

I did apply for the day program. My understanding is that the ATOP program only starts in the Spring, but I'm not entirely sure since I wasn't looking at that program.

Did you call them and ask for a brochure? I recommend you do so because they have a nice catalogue that lays everything out. I wish I could find mine because I would give you some more info on the ATOP program.
