I am thinking (dream stage right now) of possibly relocating to FL. What places are the best and the worst and why? Please be specific. Also, what's involved in getting Fl license? Thanks all.

Wow, some of the FL posts sound pretty bleak re pay/licensing fees etc. Anybody have any answers to my above post? Thanks.

I'm in the process of endorsing my license from another state now. It was $200+ for the application fee, $4 for the fingerprint cards, another $10 to pay police station to print me, $60 to nursys to verify my original license, plus fees for continuing ed courses to meet CEU requirements, BLS course, and postage to mail everything registered. I think I'm forgetting some fees, because I figured that it was going to cost me about $400 all together.

I have ten years of varied experience and can't get a call back from anyone. I was accepted for a per diem home health position, but I have my doubts that there will be many visits from this place. Even the pay there sucks, no benefits, no mileage reimbursement, and the pay-per-visit that was quoted was less than what I know was being paid in the midwest 7 years ago. It's not a good time to be a nurse around here, I think.

I too am in the process of getting my florida license and have probably spent close to 400 in fees and postage. I am seeing alot of jobs but most wont even respond until you have the florida license I do have one company sending me an application as she liked my credentials and I did tell her that I had already sent in all my paperwork to the board. My only concern right now is reading all these posts get me wondering about pay, but i already have the apartment lined up and i will have the moving company hired next week. I have a friend moving there in june who is going to continue to help with my search and to at least get my foot in the door i am willing to take any job and if i needed to any shift at least until i am done moving. good luck to both of you in your search. What areas are you looking to live and what type of nursing do you want to get into if i may ask

I'm in Jacksonville, looking for home health or hospice.

good luck, pay sucks, conditions are probably some of the worse in the country. The nurses down there tolerate it. Cost of living is higher than you would expect also. Didn't used to be but it is now but the hospitals will always site that to justify the lower salary.
