Hello,
I Will Hopefully Be Beginning An Accelerated Bsn Program In The Summer Of 2008, I Already Have A Bs And An Ms, So I Am Seeking The Bsn As A Second Bachelor's. I Am Very Interested In Becoming A Crna And Was Wondering As Someone Starting Out On This Career Path, What Is The Best Way To Go About This As To Maximize My Admission Potential.
I Don't Want To Take Steps Back Or Sideways, Only Forward And Don't Want To Be All Ready To Apply To Crna Programs And Find Out I Missed This Or That Step And Didn't Take This Or That Class, And Will Then Be Delayed Even Further From My Goal.
Thanks For The Help! It Is Much Appreciated

So you'll probably be an RN by the end of 2009, which is quite a while from now. Enjoy your free time now and don't live your life off in the future of 201? when you dream of being a CRNA. I have to remind myself of this often.
The requirements of most programs are fairly clear. Visit some websites to get an idea. AANA - Home has a list of accredited programs. First, you're smart to get your BSN. Of course, you need to be an RN. You will need a minimum of 1 year critical care experience (some require more). Many require entrance exams like the GRE or MAT. Prerequisite classes vary by school, so look at a few to find common themes. Recommendation letters/forms will be required. And there will be a minimum GPA and/or entrance exam score to apply. Many applicants make themselves more competitive with high GPAs, test scores, and nursing certifications.
Good luck!

I have contacted many CRNA schools and the average GPA for acceptance varies from 3.50-3.85, and each of the school adviced me to get the best grade possible.
I've read quite a few posts, where some are getting in with
Yeah I feel pretty strong, my undergraduate GPA is a 3.3 and my master's was 3.9. Not sure how they factor in grades if you already have a graduate degree. Plus, I am not planning on doing too shabby in nursing school!

personally I got my ASN and concentrated on just passing nursing school becasue I knew there were so many online accelerated BSN programs out there. Plus the ASN schools were much easier to get into than BSN programs in Florida. Most CRNA programs will either look at your last 60 credits or just BSN GPA and science prereqs of course. If you have a 3.2 or so in your ASN course like me and straight A's in your 10 or so BSN courses then your GPA will look really good to schools. I also moved to an area that had a hospital that would train me as a new nurse into the ICU. It is a hard but not impossible feat. Thats what I did and think that my GPA and experience will be adequate to get into a CRNA school within the next few years. Just have to keep applying even if you dont get in.
