What are the best, most useful, most marketable certifications that a RN should have?

I would have to say that it depends on your specialty....each area has its own certifications that are necessary or helpful. I am a labor nurse, and I have ACLS, BLS, NRP, and LNC....I could also get certified for intrapartum care but have not yet.
Definitely open to certifications in any area of nursing specialty

There aren't any. Each certification is only useful to the person that gets it and how they use it.
Most places don't pay extra for certs or for the $$$ to keep up the certs. If you find a place that does pay extra and you want to work there no matter what, then you will find a certification that is good for you and will keep it up to get that extra perk.
If you are looking for a particular type of job, then you will work on getting the cert needed to obtain the job or to keep the job.
It all depends on your goals and how you plan to use the certs that you get.
