I graduate in May and I am wondering if there are some states that are better to work in than other ones. If there are better sign on bonuses or just better overall better working environments.

Do not go to Georgia they don't pay crap I live in a town called newnan 35 min from atlanta the facilities in that area pay $13.25, $14.00, they don' t pay anything at all. Peachtree city georgia pays going rate $16.00. Greenville georgia pays $15.50 this is all to start. I hear they pay more close to Atlanta but who wants to drive back and forth with gas being $3.25 a gallon!
I should have stayed in kentucky louisville my friends make way more than I do and the cost of living is cheaper they can afford to live!

New grads in the Pittsburgh, PA area start out at around $20.00/hr base give or take a buck.
Grads in Cleveland, OH start out at around $23.00/hr base give or take.
Both areas are pretty cheap to live in.
The catch.....hardly any sunlight, high unemployment rates, low economic status, not much to do besides eat and shop.
Someone said NC pays less but from what I seen they start out more than here. (Raliegh area) That is where I want to end up. I love the sun!!

Ip,
just remember to take into consideration the cost of living for the areas. Higher pay usually means higher price to live. I've been reading these posts for a while now too, and when I start to feel like I'm getting gypped on my own salary, I'll read one that validates that, and I won' t feel so bad.
P.S. Upstate NY = $20.50- $23.00 base to start. Check into different facilies' differential rates too!
Good Luck!!

I'm a student right now. At the start of one clinical during orientation we had a nursing coordinator talk to us, at that hospital (Reston Va) she stated new Rn's can expect just over $24 an hour, which is competitive in the region! But of course the cost of living is fairly high here in the DC area.
