I had the Premier that came with my nursing bag which I could not hear anything out of
I went to walmart and bought the $15.00 one and cant really here much
I used a little lightweight orange no name on at the nursing home and OMG it sucked
A friend of mine has a lightweight littmann and I couldnt hear any better out of it ??
I went to a uniform shop and listened to an Adscope and didnt hear well from it
Im needing something that has strong sounds for blood pressure/lung sounds and to limit background noise. I lost 25% hearing when i was younger and its so hard to take a BP
Could I just get a chestpiece from a littmann cardiology iii (i heard they were the best) and just put in on my stethoscope tubing/lumen??? Does it matter what kind of tubing you have?
thanks

I have an ancient Littman I bought 20 years ago. I worked in CCU at the time so it's a cardiology model. I also have one of the less costly Littman models that works well and is not as heavy. I think it's around 40 bucks.

What would you gain by using the chest-piece from a Cardiology III and the tubing from another steth?
I don't think you can buy just a chest-piece, so you'd need to buy the whole thing anyway.
Additionally, due to your hearing loss....I'd definitely try one out before you plunked down cash for one. You may need an electronic steth in which the volume can be amplified.

Have you made sure you are putting the stethascope on correctly? I know you probably are, but just in case I had to ask. I was trying to use a stethascope once and couldn't figure out why I couldn't ever hear anything and turns out I just needed to turn the thing around in the other direction. Yeah, I felt stupid on that one, but thankfully that was just in A&P and not in the nursing program!!
Also, I just bought the Littman Lightweight II and I think it's great so far. Other students who are already in the nursing program recommended this one to me.
I just re-read your post...missed the part about your hearing loss. Although this one seems really clear to me, with your hearing loss, I can see how it may still not be good enough. Sorry I don't have any better advice.
Good luck in your search!

I started with a Littman which got me through school and was good but my sister bought me an Ultrascope a two years ago for my birthday and I will never use anything else, plus they are cute too! Ultrascope.com
