Best RN pay in this area?

Published

Hi,

I have seen another thread posted on the general forums asking about salaries and some people got very upset about it! I am NOT asking you to reveal your salary if you don't want to! So please don't flame me and say I am asking personal info!:angryfire if you don't want to reveal the info., please just don't answer this post! I am just trying to find out what hospitals, agencies or other places pay the best in this area!

I also saw someone else pose this question on the AZ thread and they didn't get much of a response! Come on Phoenix area Nurses, help me out and tell me where the best pay is at around here! I have only been in the area 6 months and am stuck at a hospital I hate! I want to find a better place to go that pays more money! I always thought ACUTE nursing shortage = HIGHER pay, but it doesn't look like that here!

Thanks!

It does equal higher pay. Perhaps you should ask other nurses what they made a few years back...

From what I've heard, I only know the starting pay of a new grad in the Phx area which is about $24/hr.

Have you tried the online salary sites (salary.com) or nursing agencies? Why not call a few hospital HR departments? They'd love to talk to you and you could weazle some info out of them at the same time.

I can tell you I make about 30.00 an hour I work full time. I've been a rn for 6 1/2 years. But that is not the full story. there are lots of things to keep in mind. Salary = pay+benefits+discounts+extra things for instance does your hospital have a clinical ladder program or like the banners COMPASS I belive schottsdale healthcare has the STAR program or something like that, certification reimbursement, do thye pay for professional organization membership tuition remibursements medical benefits. All of this factor in into what a salary is it is not just what you get paid an hour.

A friend of mine is an R.N and works at St. Joe's. She opted for non-benefit pay and is making $35 an hour. I believe she has been a nurse for 3 years.

Agency always pays more, pool always pays more. If you are unhappy where you are, start applying online for jobs and see who calls you up. With some experience, salaries are very negotiable. It depends on how bad they want you! If you have 10 years experience, than 35 bucks+ an hour as base pay is doable. If you have less than 3 years, then you probably will get 27 - 30. It all depends!

$24-26 is standard new grad pay throughout the state. (as far as i know, and i checked a lot of 'em out)
