Hi!
Im recently working as RN in NZ for almost a year now and I read a lot of posts regarding nursing working condition/benefits/opportunities/future/negativities here which are mostly true... Honestly, Im considering to transfer my nursing practice to Australia but Im in great dilemna sending my mutual recogntion application between Queensland (Brisbane) & Western Australia (Perth). Likewise, I have my previous 3 years nursing experience back to my homeland, Philippines.
I heard numerous fantastic & awesome stories for both cities but any comments to be posted here especially those RNs working in these places are highly appreciated... Kindly cite the PROS & CONS here. Thank you in advance!!! :typing

Hi jaycee_ty
Pros: These places are all OK. Nursing experience depends on the ward culture really.
Cons: if u don't mind the weather...hot humid flooding...pls dont get this change ur plan for OZ coz it is nice here...I know for sure that Filipinos are resilient in terms of weather, so, wherever u are u be alright. U just have to enjoy ur stay Well, we can't have both worlds, do we?
Anyways, where abouts in NZ do u live? which nursing specialty do u work at? Its a shame I have to leave OZ for NZ for sometime.
Hope thesebits of info would help ur plan.
:) cheers
Thanks for the comment.
I'm working at ED in one of the DHB's here in Wellington...
Are you working in Oz right now? What city & hospital set-up? What are your future plans???

Hi I just graduated from one of the Uni here in NSW. I want to specialise in nephrology / renal. MY family will be moving to NZ very soon for some family commitments. Maybe start my career from there. OZ is good, and I would love to come back here. Lots of my friends are nurses in public/private/ nursinghomes. They are Filipinos too who are now Australians.
If u are working in the ED, good career choice, Mate:heartbeat I understand the ED is really a very busy unit and high staff turnover, even here. Been there for my clinical placements, and I like it too coz it was never boring and lots of hands-on skills to pick up. One of the doctors who happened to be a friend of mine, recommends that if i have a choice..'start in the ED'.
Where in the Phil u are from?

Perth doesn't flood!! Also rarely rains, not so good, but is is quiet, beautiful, peaceful............
Brisbane and Perth are actually fairly similar as far as size/culture.
brisbane is closer to the other States for easier, cheaper travel.
Perth on the other hand is actually the most "geographically" isolated place in the world.
We are closer to Bali than any other Australian State.

Hi, been searching for infos about Perth... Im glad you shared yours...
I would like to know what is the living condition there? I mean...Is it affordable like rent, food, utilities stuffs like that and what about the place. I did my research about registration in NSW and I found out that it will cost me more than 7,000 AUD so I am eyeing on Perth.
How long is their bridging program?
I would really appreciate any info. Thank you.
