Bergen Community College Nursing Program Question

Published

Last Thursday I was at the college for the purpose of collecting my Chemistry grade with some classmates. Apparently, there was a graduation ceremony for RN's going on that night as well, and my friends started talking to one student to ask her about the program. I didn't hear the entire conversation, but one of my cohorts told me the student had stated that ELEVEN people had failed out of NUR-181 alone during her course!

Now, there's always a chance there was some sort of misunderstanding or miscommunication, but does this sound right? For what it's worth, I would think the application process and competitiveness of getting in to the program would assure a strong student population, so it makes me nervous to hear these things. I already received some insight from someone privately, but I was wondering what the public population made of this info.

Thanks!

i know. im at work right now. and im yelling at all my co-workerss like omggg she got in!! i hope i do too!! lol

their like go check go check..

butttt, what do you mean.... you had to ask for a change of curriculum?

i never did that...... i thought the system, bergen, automatically does that for you..

i wonder if that will influence whether or not i will see it on webadvisor.

now i am so scared.... i never submitted a curriculum change form.............................or did i? no i didn't. is this a horrible thing?!!

Since I was already a student at Bergen, I didn't have to "apply" to bergen - instead, you have the option to just fill out a change of curriculum form (I did mine online but I don't think you HAVE to do it online). I don't know if that has any bearing on webadvisor or not?!...it might! Can you maybe call up there and ask?....as if they would help. ;-)

your poor coworkers! LOL!!! Take it out on them girl!! ;-) LOL!! keep checking and if you would feel better, then def try calling bergen and ask about the webadvisor thing!!! Whatever will make you a little less stressed!!!!

okay... so i still have the chance to change the curriculum AFTER i see if i get in right?.... since i do not know if i got in yet anyway, maybe i can just wait till after and that not be a problem.

nevermind, i called them up and cleared it up.. thank you though Ukgirl..she said when i applied for the nursing program, i basically did.. and they can see that.. so it is done already.. back to waiting now!

Oh good!! I was on my way back to work when i saw your post (on my phone) so I couldn't reply to tell you not to worry, that applying is the same thing -- we just had the additional option available to us because we were already students =)

How awesome that you got an answer from them so quickly tho!!! That has to be a good sign if ever there was one! LOL! ;-)

Woot woot i am in!!!!!!! Ahhhhh!!!!!

YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After all the drama and jumping thru the rings of fire!!! LOL!!! Congrats!!!!

......so now what?! Haha!!

LOL yea UKGirl, I am so excited! Well, now we need the CPR Cert., physical, I have some shots I still need to get, uniforms, shoes, books....OMG. I do not even want to think about that right now. In the morning I will, right now, I am just so happy for us! Good luck to everyone else! Remember to check in the "Prospective Student" area under "Admission Status". Hurray!

I'm registered for the CPR thing on June 23rd, the day after I get home from my honeymoon!.....I will prolly be out of town when the packet comes, which makes me nervous that I will miss a date or something (I'll be gone from the 7th till the 22nd for wedding/honeymoon)!....I can go ahead and schedule a physical though!

Congratulations to both of you!!! That's awesome!

I'm thinking now that a cut-off could have been made in the 91 percent area? I'm losing hope that I'm in - I was an 88. Not sure how long it takes them to do all the "admits."

Well, if they are doing it from top score to bottom score, then who knows. They still have to verify that everyone has all their materials in order and that the background check is clean. If they are doing that at the same time as entering students in the system, then it could take a while. IMO, the cut off is not 91. That seems way too high.
