Bergen Community College Nursing Program Question

U.S.A. New Jersey

Published

Last Thursday I was at the college for the purpose of collecting my Chemistry grade with some classmates. Apparently, there was a graduation ceremony for RN's going on that night as well, and my friends started talking to one student to ask her about the program. I didn't hear the entire conversation, but one of my cohorts told me the student had stated that ELEVEN people had failed out of NUR-181 alone during her course!

Now, there's always a chance there was some sort of misunderstanding or miscommunication, but does this sound right? For what it's worth, I would think the application process and competitiveness of getting in to the program would assure a strong student population, so it makes me nervous to hear these things. I already received some insight from someone privately, but I was wondering what the public population made of this info.

Thanks!

Dear Moojie,

You are no longer my hero, and clearly no longer my friend.

Thanks,

UKGirl

ROTFL! Sorry?

hmmmm me tooo! I just got one when you wrote me back,

Who know's with this thing.. lol

guess we'll just have to keep checking ourselves

Haha!!! Well I guess you should be..ruining my weekend and all ;)

I give that a "DISLIKE" (pretend we're on facebook)

What town is everybody here from anyway?

Might as well get to know one another somewhat since we will all be in the nursing program..... (OF COURSE) lol :)

Ukgirl, lol.

Tdag, I am originally from the Bronx, but I live in Fort Lee now, right by the GWB bridge. And you?

When I first moved up here I was going to a doctor in Fort Lee and missed my turn...ended up on the GW Bridge and thought I would die. I didn't but I did pay something like $12 in tolls...

I live in Westwood =)

My fiance's mom is from the Bronx -- Woodlawn? Does that sound right?!

I lived in Hackensack ALL of my life .... but about two years ago I moved to Paterson to live with the hubby.

Ugh, i'm over anxious. i need to know if i got in NOW. i think being on this site makes me want to know even more. hah.

Haha, yeah Woodlawn is in the Bronx. I lived(and my parents now live) a little east of there by Pelham Bay.

tdag where in Paterson do you live? I lived there for 6 months with my in-laws right after I got married. We were in Hilcrest, 4 blocks from the Gelottis. They just moved back there after moving to Jefferson for a year:)

And I am so anxious to know as well. I was talking to my Prof. and he said his step-son got in the evening program with an 86, so I should not have any issues. And in my head I was thinking, "Are you sure he did not get in because he is your step son?". LOL.

Well i'm not too far from right off of Route 4 where it turns into Broadway in Paterson.... I live in the part of Paterson thats really close to Elmwood park and all the little shopping centers...

And good point, or was it just b.c. it was his stepson?

Well, either way, I also know people who got into the evening program with 80's. I took A&PII in the fall and about 4 students in my class got into the program, I was so happy for all of them. One of the women scored in the 80's and she's in now. But like they say, it all depends on how the students do as a whole since they take the highest scores and go down until the spots are filled.

Does anyone know how many people seriously applied and have taken the exam or the average of the exams? I saw you guys showed some averages before...

I really hope we all get in :)

I'm a little concerned with how they have 15 spots open on each, but I'm hoping they are just playing a cruel trick or something- it would be ridiculous if they cut the program now...

Hope everyone has a great weekend - ITS SO BEAUTIFUL OUTSIDE ... as i look from my work window.

Kk, it sucks that you have to work today:(

AND, I checked the averages yesterday and it was 67 overall. As for how many took the test this year all we have is the number from last year that was posted on another thread, 1189. But keep in mind that enrollment in Bergen went up SUBSTANTIALLY this year, so it will likely be more.

:)
