Bergen Community College Evening Program Spring 2016

Published

Hey guys! So I'm applying to the BCC evening nursing program that starts in spring 2016. Is there anyone else out there who is applying with me? I'm going crazy with anticipation for the applications to open lol. I just want to get started already!!

What was your gpa?? Do you think mine is fine? I mean I heard they really base it off the HESI ... I have been using everything HESI books TONS of notecards I downloaded pocket prep a 10 dollar app to help me practice ... To get more into detail for biology I read lots of books took quizzes everything

Btw my GPA is at at 3.1 something I heard of you are passed the requirement and applied early your fine

My GPA from my two stints at Bergen is 3.42 and my Bachelors GPA from Rutgers is 3.19. The combine the GPA's to get your true one. I'm assuming i'll probably fall some where in the middle. I read they have changed the admission criteria to 60% Hesi exam and 40% GPA. I have also read they were trying have changed the testing criteria. They want to have a minimum score of 78% for admission consideration. I do not know if it has been approved. I think your GPA is fine. Just make sure you crush the test. Don't give them a reason to say no.

Oh okay... This is so stressful ; too much anxiety! Btw does your admission status currently say incomplete b/c idk why mine is SAYINF that I have done everything lol or is it just saying that because I haven't gotten notice for HESI exam yet?

You won't hear from them till after October 1st. They don't review applications till after the deadline. How do you check your application status?

hey! the only reason it says incomplete is because you're taking A&P II in the fall. Mine says the same thing and it's because of that. I spoke with the woman in charge of the applications and she said that as long as it's in progress in the fall, you're absolutely fine!

Ok great! So are we getting everything through Mail??? Or are we receiving an email saying that we are invited to take HESI as I understand it's after October 1st

from what i've seen from other students in past years, you get an email asking you to do the background check and then after that you get an email inviting you to take the HESI

Iam such a nervous wreck right now... I was emailing elsa like crazy because I was so nervous about my incomplete status ... she never gave me a direct answer as to why so you answered my question and main concern so thank you!... I remember the first time I applied was around 11:45 20 minutes before the apps were up and it was up but I submitted my form twice and it was wrong so I had to call the nursing department and have them discard the first two... and I had to resend it again through the new one...im just so stressed out and I have been studying like crazy... I have biology mostly down pact grammar and chem Is bugging me out right now.. grammar seems ok but as far as chem goes im nervous .

aww don't worry!! i'm sure you'll be fine :) as for the applications on the first day they were all going through as vet tech applications because I had that problem too.

Im a level 2 nursing student

My advices:

1) Do the reading/grammar/vocabulary first. These sections contain about 55 questions each and require reading skills and some basic/complex critical thinking. (Takes a chunk of your time) careful read the questions and every answers. Example: My child ran away form home. If read fast you might not catch the error (form instead of from).

2) Math is basic: ration proportion, percentage, adding/subtracting/dividing. (Yes, there is a drop down calculator) about 55 questions as well.

3) If you have time, read the first couple of chapters from a Bio book. Introductory materials.

4) know some basic vocabulary pertaining to medical terminology.

5) Read a book on test taking techniques.

Thank you so much for all of this advice!!

I do have one question though, you mentioned all of the subjects with the exception of chemistry. Is there not a chemistry section on Bergen's HESI?
