Being a younger applicant to TCU's CRNA school

Published

Hello everyone :)

I am currently a nursing student, retrieving my BSN. I already have plans to become a CRNA after I graduate. My question is, will I be a strong candidate if i apply to TCU's CRNA school at the age of 23 with 1 year of ICU experience under my belt? I am currently a CNA in NICU.. so I will have that experience, but I want to apply after a little over 1 year of ICU experience as an RN. Besides that, do you think I wont be considered due to age/ lack of experience? I am very studious, so I plan on excelling in every other requirement.

Thanks all!!!

I am 23 and start in August. I don’t turn 24 until August. I’ll be 26 right before graduation. Go for it.

I applied and was accepted when I was 23 (I'm now 24 and currently in the program). Age was never an issue and was never even mentioned at the slightest in my interview process. I had 2 years of experience when I applied (graduated w/ BSN at 21 y.o.) and my experience level was the only thing they said they were "concerned" about with my application. Although, I worked in a large teaching facility with an extremely high acuity ICU (ECMO, HFOV, etc).

I think as long as you demonstrate that you are a great candidate (high GRE scores, good GPA, strong letters of rec) you will impress them.
