Being screwed by LAUSD...HELP!!

Published

Can anyone help? I just finished (or so I thought) a one year LVN program through a L.A. Unified School District Vocational School. We were sponsored by a longterm care facility. Our first teacher quit on us, then our second one was fired the day after our graduation. We attended graduation, a month goes by,then we find out that we,as a class, are short theory by 8 hours. We have to remediate these 8 hours, before our paperwork will be sent in so we can set an NCLEX date. (Are you still with me?) Fine. But now there are rumors that there were forms that had to be filled out in relation to our clinicals, and we know nothing about these "forms". We are thinking that the director of our school is going to show up and test us on all of our fundamental nursing skills because these forms are missing. Of course, we are all going to be nervous. What if we forget something, even though we completed all skills in clinical? Here's my question: Can LAUSD tell us "Sorry, you didn't complete these forms, and you didn't perform the skills in this 8 hour remediation so we are not going to send in your paperwork." We all attended the entire class (except 8 hours) we all did everything we were asked of by our teacher in clinicals, we all passed tests, midterms, and finals. Can a school actually do this?

That sucks. I wonder why it took a month for the to realize this. I don't think I would be so understanding.

I think your best bet (although I wouldn't be too trusting) would be to call the school and see about the rumored forms and what all it entails. Also see what these 8 hours are going to cover. The only thing that I can think of because you're saying it's related to clinicals are check off sheets for skills that you've done. Did you receive anything like that when you were in clinicals?

I hope everything works out and you can get your 8 hours in quickly.
