bed making?

It's very important to do body mechanics in making a bed. But what if the bed is unadjustable, and the height of the bed is lower than your waist ? what should i do?

I've been told many times to watch my back and to bend my knees whenever I need to do something that is below my waist like picking something off the floor. For bed making I remember to not over reach and to bend my knees when tucking the draw sheet. Sounds like the bed you are working on is very low. Please watch your back and do your best to bend your knees.

Good luck to you.:)

I have never used an unadjustable bed, but I am really tall an often am working with someone shorter than me. After pulling a mucle in my neck (horridly painful), I learned to make the bed go up or use my knees.

So not worth it to hurt yourself!

You widen your base of support (spread you feet apart), keep your back straight, and crouch down (like you were going to do a duck walk). You do the same maneuver to pick up a heavy object. But, in this case, while you are in that crouched position, you tuck in the sheets.

And to add to Daytonites excellent suggestion, I'd minimize the times I had to bend/reach. Meaning, make one side and then walk around and make the other, thus minimizing the reaching and stretching from staying stationary and reaching and stretching. Most importantly, back as straight as possible.
