Be completely honest......

Nursing Students General Students

So, is nursing school REALLY hard? I'm 24. I've been going to college part-time after highschool...taking one or two night classes a semester for Business. Just recently, I decided that I'm going to do it...I'm going to work part-time, and do the nursing program full time at a local community college. I'm kinda intimidated though....after looking through some of the threads, it sounds like a REALLY hard program. I have drive, and this is something that I'm going to go through with, but please tell me....exactly how hard is it? Lots of reading? Homework? About how many hours a night do you study?

I think you can see by the answers that it's all very subjective. I'm a little astounded by the ones who breezed through, no big deal, piece of cake. I think a general consensis across the country would be that it's work and you need to apply yourself but it can be done or obviously there'd be no new nurses.

The only hard part is putting up with all the f-ing bulls@#%!. :o It's not rocket science. Your spelling and grammar in your post were fine so you should do well in nursing school.

:rotfl: I totally agree!! Thanks for the laugh!!

However, you cannot mentally prepare for nursing school and you won't understand what all of us are saying until you experience it for yourself. But, if I can do it, so can you. Just don't get too wigged out!

I agree with septicwad. It's not that bad. It's just a lot of busy work and putting up with sometime idiotic instructors/professors. Lots of poorly written exams and frustrating administration problems. A nurse at one of my clinical sites went to my school and joked, saying they make it so frustrating while you're in school so that you'll be well prepared when you get out in the real world. :angryfire
