Hello, how are you? I am a BCC cc student. I saw a poster for the premedical club. It says anyone interesting in medical careers like nurses can join. The requirements are 2.0 gpa, volunteer, and be interested in a medical career. The good thing is I guess students get to volunteer in association with the pre med club the student is not alone.
I have a question about volunteering. When I went to a pre nursing orientation at school I asked if volunteering was a good idea. The instructor told me I didn't even know they had volunteering programs for nursing. Unfortunately its a field thats limited. I said yes I volunteered over the summer at a clinic assisting with activities with residents. Since then i stopped volunteering. I think this is confusing because I always thought it was a great idea to learn hands on stuff - watch other nurses and see how the healthcare field works.
After reading the posts on allnurses.com I see that volunteering is a great idea. Thanks for the info. Just wondering what anyone thinks of this. Also is anyone part of a medical/nursing club at their school?
Thanks

I don't think our school has a medical/nursing club, but I'd join if they did.
I do volunteer and really enjoy it. The nurses are really great about pulling me in and showing me new things and explaining as they go along. The hospital does alot of teaching with nursing/med students and the staff is great about demonstrating procedures.
