Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone is in the BC3 (Butler County Community College) Nursing program or has recently graduated from there. I have heard good things and bad things, like you do for all schools. I would just really like to have some information on what the program is like, the teachers, etc. from people who are in the program or have graduated from there in the last couple years. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Has anyone applied there? Im waiting to see if I got in or not...

I graduated from The BC3 nursing program in May of 2009. I honestly do not recommend the program. The goal of the program is to keep their NCLEX passing rate as high as possible. The program is very tough, and the academically weaker students are weeded out. I believe my class started with 72 students, plus an additional 20 or so readmits and LPN's joined us for the second year. Only 48 students made it to graduation. On the plus side, I think there were only 3 students who did not pass NCLEX. Unfortunately, the program offers very little clinically. BC3 students graduate with very few real nursing skills compared to students from other nursing schools. We did not have the opportunities that the students in the Pittsburgh area schools had, as our clinicals were held at smaller community hospitals and we were basically treated like aides. Additionally, students from the other schools who do their clinicals in UPMC or WPAHS hospitals have an advantage when it comes to employment. I graduated almost 9 months ago and still have not been able to find a job. I have applied to nearly 80 positions and have not even been called for an interview. I believe that BC3 is a turn off to employers.
