I believe Baystate nurses don't work for a union? (no union doesn't bother me)

How is the pay compared to an RN at Berkshire Medical Center?

Are the benefits comparable? Does orientation well prepare a nurse for the floor?

Any continuing education benefits?

Do they have any psychiatric positions available ever? Also, this would be a drive for me from the Berkshires so I am just trying to get some info in advance. thanks in advance for any info.

I'll try and help you out as much as I can-

Baystate- Non Union

Berkshire- Union

Baystate Pay- $26.50 to start

Berkshire- $27 to start and I believe it's going up

Baystate- Pysch is available a good amount of the time. Try the website, or google Baystate Health in Springfield Mass, and search Carreers. Carlson Recovery Center is DETOX.

Both have Contiunuing Edu Benefits usually with a 2yr dedication after your complete.

Not sure about benefits or their orientations.

Hope this Helps!

I make $6 more an hour base pay at Baystate. Also Baystate offers weekend incentive positions & pay of $8 per hr on top of my base. Puts me close to $50/hr with benefits. Berkshire Medical Center has nothing that compares to that. I have 19 yr exp & work in a critical area. Their benefits are very good as well. I will be recieving a cost of living raise in 4/094 of 4%. And an 8% raise once I achieve clin 3 status. Not to mention the teaching hospital enviroment of a real university level hospital. Berkshire Medical is "teaching" as well but not really "it's Mickey Mouse" I know for sure been there, done that.:banghead:

Baystate offers a good teaching enviroment with a better compensation plan.:D

I didn't know there was such a big pay difference. As a New Grad I know Baystate Hires at $26.50 and BMC was $27 and was supposed to be increasing to $30 to start by the first of the year. I believe @ BMC 3-11's were $2.25 more an hr, Nights were 20% More and Weekends were 30% more don't quote me on the differential though. But I have heard from Numerous People that BMC's Base pay is more, and I do know that New Grads are hired @ $26.50 @ Baystate (not positive about their differentials though). Thanks for the Good Info! :nurse:

I can tell you that at BMC the differentials are not so good. 3-11 shift is an extra $1.25/hr. I haven't heard of the base starting pay going to $30 by the 1st of the year either. Nights are not 20% more. I believe it's a $2.00/hr differential. Weekends at BMC are only $1.25/hr, not even close to 30%.

I hear conflicting things about Baystate. It sounds like their differentials are much better than at BMC.
