Has anyone heard anything about ICU of Sentara Bayside?

Specializes in PeriOp, ICU, PICU, NICU.

Welcome to the family of allnurses

I don't have any specifics about Bayside's ICU. I do know a few Nurses who work at Bayside, but none of them work in the ICU. Its not the best hospital in town, thats no secret.(I think its some better than it used to be) I don't really know how the working conditions are there.

As a Patient I would choose Norfolk General, Lee Memorial, Chesapeake General or Beach General before I would choose to go to Bayside. I personally have not had any bad experiences there but I know several people who have had some issues with the patient care there.

Welcome to ALL Nurses

What do the "few nurses...at Bayside" whom you know think about its ICU? Your help is much appreciated.

I talked to a friend of mine who works at Bayside in the Med Surg unit. She said that the ICU there has really gotten up to standards and that they have a really nice team of nurses there who work the night shift. She didn't really know much about the people who work day shift because she doesn't run into them often. She also told me that the RNs at Bayside are soon getting a $5.00 an hour raise.

Still, I really do not know all the specifics but from what she told me it sounded ok. She did tell me to tell you to ask about shadowing one of the nurses for a day or two so that you can get a better idea if its the place that you want to work.

Did you attend school here in the Hampton Roads area? I am starting at TCC (Va Bch campus) tomorrow, then transfreing to ODU in two years for the Accelerated BSN program.

Thank you so much for the inputs. I REALLY appreciate them. I certainly will check into the raise. I attended NSU 2nd degree program. I heard TCC has a strong nursing program. Good luck with school. Keep me updated on your progress.
