Baylor's BSN-DNP CRNA Program 2017

Hello everyone!

I want to start a thread for those of you applying to Baylor-Houston's BSN-DNP CRNA program for 2017 admission. How is everyone faring so far? Being that this is a competitive program, this is a place where we can help each other out essentially.

I have applied and praying I get an invitation letter to interview. Who else is doing the same?

How many schools are you applying to? I applied to the two schools in Houston, TX.

Hi! I'm applying to Baylor for Jan 2017.

I'm applying to several different schools in the country (2 in NE, 1 in Tx, 1-2 in NC) because the school I go to and when is going to likely be decided by my husband and his military career. We currently live in NC, but I don't think we will be here much longer. Hoping he gets to PCS to TX or an early discharge :) Baylor is my top choice and I'm crossing my fingers Jan 2017 will work for us. But if I'm accepted, and the timeline doesn't work out, I'm going to ask to attend Jan 2018.

I'm not sure how competitive I am compared to other applicants. I have about 3 years ICU experience (all kinds, CVICU, SICU, MICU, but no kids), 3.3 GPA, 74th and 75th percentile for GRE Verbal and Math, but only 55th percentile for written part. I think my application essay is particularly well written and accurately describes my desire to study anesthesia.

I love the fact that Baylor is 18mos didactic and then 18mos clinical. I definatly have more confidence when I can learn by reading, and then practice hands on. I know some classes in the first 6 mos are offered online, which would be really nice, esp if my husband hasn't moved to TX yet. Do you know anything about how that works? It said we would still need to attend campus for other things. Too bad I couldn't do the first 6 months online in NC!

Do you already live in Houston? I'm looking at possible housing opportunities, everything seems so expensive! Or super far away (some were about 30 min drives, but 90 min drives during rush hour :/)I'm used to paying about $700/mo for a two bedroom apt in a nice area. I have a dog and cat, so that complicates things. I've never been to Houston so I can't really commit to buying a house right away.

So, I didn't realize the deadline was July 1st (oops). While I had most everything ready to submit, I just paid for my GRE score to be sent. Then I realized under the question and answer pages that I got the school code correct, but the secondary code was not (I sent to 0610, which is Health and Medical Sciences vs 0601, Allied Health). I'm not sure how much that makes a difference. I hope I don't have to resubmit. $27/ea gets expensive. The rest of my application was already done online, so I just submitted it, and my reccomendations and additional papers just need to be mailed.

Oh my, I've written so much! Enjoy reading this book!

Lol @ this book! I just woke up at 2:50 am and saw this message!

I am going back to sleep....super tired! Awesome job applying. Will try to answer your questions later the best that I can!

But first, lease send your GRE scores to 0610, it makes a big difference. I made that mistake twice. Scores were it reported! Think if it is worth the money!

I emailed Baylor and they said something to the effect of being able to find it since the school code was correct. I'm going to mail a print out of my scores with my supporting documents with a note about the situation. It shouldn't be a deal breaker.

Well that's great! I called Baylor twice and was informed that my GRE scores that were sent from ETS almost 2 months prior had not been received. I was getting impatient and decided to send my scores using the correct codes. I live in the Houston area, about 25 miles away from Baylor. You should be able to find affordable housing if you are willing to make a little commute to the school. By the way, your GRE scores and level/years of experience are competitive! I am sure you will be getting an invitation letter. Please keep me posted :-)

So, back to these GRE scores...

I called GRE, the couldn't change the department code, but said they should be able to look up my score with my name, reference number, and test date. So, I'm sending an unofficial score report printed from their site with my supporting documentation. It has that info, plus my score :) So if push really comes to shove, and they like what they see, they maybe will try harder to get the official GRE score.

This is such a nerve wracking process. I just did my transcript requests today. I thought I had already done them. Luckily they were online. But I sent them (2 different schools) to the wrong place the first go around. So, I paid to do them again, direcly to the [email protected] address.

Good to hear about housing. If I am granted an interview, maybe we can meet up in person! I'm sure you will be granted an interview as well. Defintly let me know.

Great! You seem to be on the right track...have a great day!

How soon do you think we will hear back on interviews? I just checked, all of my application has been received.

I heard from a third person that they send notifications two to three weeks after application close dates.

Hello! Just thought I'd introduce myself...I've applied and I am so excited and also on pins and needles waiting to hear from BCM. Getting to this step is the first in a long rewarding journey! Good Luck to all!

I called the admissions' office for BCM CRNA Program. I was informed that invitation letters for interviews will go out via email in the last week of July.
