Making this thread for anyone who applied to the residency program that opened today. Good luck to everyone!

All of you who got an ICU offer from Baylor, have you all had ICU clinical rotation/preceptorship during nursing school?

I did my preceptorship in the ICU and also worked for Baylor prior to my RN role.

I didn't get an offer from Baylor and I later decided to ask why, and they said it was because I didn't have ICU experience. Was just wondering if anyone has gotten accepted without it.  l did get an offer to ICU at another hospital tho

Aww .. my recruiter told me a different range for shift differential

Evening: $2
Nights: $2.25
Weekends: $2.25

That’s interesting. There were a few who didn’t have ICU experience. They may be doing something different this cohort. That’s great that you got an offer elsewhere. Good luck in the ICU!

Are you going to be in the ICU? The differentials could be different based on speciality and facility location.

I also did pretty bad on the interview so it's likely because of that but I was just curious if Baylor actually prefers ICU experience. Good luck to you too and congrats!!

Residency program is 1 year long. It includes education seminars, skills labs/classes, BLS/ACLS RQI, mock codes, monthly transition to practice meetings, and an EKG exam (if your unit has EKG monitoring). There is also an EBP group project you have to do and present by the end of the year.

I know specifically for ICU - you will have a 16 week internship which includes a shadow shift, orientation clinical shifts w/preceptor, unit based lectures, and educational modules at home. Then, you’ll be on your own!

@dbrn2021 Can you tell me if GN can make request for vacation or time off during the first year?
