Bauder College Pleasant Surprise

U.S.A. Georgia

So I had a VERY NEGATIVE initial contact with this college. Through just ONE conversation it's apparent that this school is a for-profit. After calling the school I was transferred to their Atlanta campus...The guy answered the phone "are you coming to a information session" which COMPLETELY through me off....no hello, thank you for calling Atlanta...blah blah etc.. it was INFO session info session. He continued to cut me off, avoid all questions. and even got SNAPPY with me. Their customer service is absolutely a turn off and I don't believe this school will be a top choice for me. smh some people do not need to be in customer service... I could NOT believe this guy. Take a PTO day if you don't want to work.

So what have you done so far in the process? do you have a bachelors already? any pre-req's done? do they require any? sorry for so many questions lol

LOL its cool...I don't mind. I do have a Bachelors already in another field of study which means I have no pre-reqs to complete. So far, I've taken to 3 entrance tests an hand an interview. Last one is tomorrow with the nursing Faculty. After that, background check, physical and drug test. They teach their own pre-reqs if you have'nt completed them yet.

Tahnks! so if all is need is human anat 2 then i could take it there? Does everyone have to start at the same point? wow that would be great to beable to do the pre-reqs within the program, we spend so much money doing pre-reqs before even applying. I have a BA in Biology so i'm hoping alot of classes will transfer. so 3 entrances test and 2 interviews? whats the GPA requirement? I talk to the Director, forgot his name but talking to him really pursuaded me to come, he made me forget about my first iteraction.:yeah:

They do teach A& P 1&2 there, no worries. About starting at the same point, kinda hard to say because I'm sure there are several people that are in the same situation like me, have a degree already and have already taken every pre-req there is to take. I have my BA in English. First entrance test is a joke lol...soooooo easy. 2nd one is the Kaplan, yet again, quite basic, not hard at all...at least not to me. 3rd test is a survey/computer test to test whether or not you feel comfortable working on computers....VERY easy and simple. 1st interview is with the admissions rep, fairly laid back, no pressure at all. I guess it made me feel a little better when she told me she's a member of my sister greek lettered organization lol. 2nd interview, from what she told me, is all about nursing with the nursing faculty. GPA requirement is a 2.5 if I'm not mistaken which is kinda low in comparison to alot of schools around here ya know?

Thanks for the info. did you apply at one of the informationals? I want to get this process started quickly. I'm going saturday for the informational session. so you don't know if you been accepted yet?

You actually turn in your application the day of the interview with the admissions rep. Keep me posted, let me know how it goes for ya:up:

Hello Everyone... I thought I might give you a bit o f my 2 cents, and perceptions so far. I have been accepted ito the August RN class, it starts on the 23/ 24th of August. an Lpn class starts then too. I believe both are supposed to start in Nov as well. The very first Lpn and Rn classes started in June. First everyone must go to the information seminar, plan for a day of it, lots of info and testing, then be ready to comlete all the other steps in a pretty short time. as soon as you take the Kaplan(KPT). .... Be SURE to immediatly get your drug, and backgroung check completed ASAP. the school is not the most timely as far as returning phone calls, but all the necessary things get done, The Nursing program is New, and we all are well aware of the demand for Nursing Programs, they too will have a few hundred applicants for the 36-40(?) spots,,,, good news is that they have, so far accepted students for 3 terms in a row. The interviews are not too bad if you have a desire and pasion for Nursing. again key thing in the process is to score well in the reading and math, get drug and background screening done as soon as they give you the form, there is a concentray just up the street behind the varsity, and they are no cost to us, so no excuses for delays, unless you use drugs, then there is no need to apply.

As for those that are mulling over the high cost, be sure when you compare the costs of other schools to this school that you are comparing apples to apples. remember that yes it is about 41k for 15 montha of school. but remember that is for a complete associates rn program, basically, nothing else out of pocket. It is including text books, uniforms testing screenings, pre reqs, nursing classes, internships nclex prep program(capstone) and the nclex testing fee. not to mention you will be done and ready to start making money before your friends even have their pre reqs for other schools I Have many classes that transferred in so it reduced the cost, but of course I spent from Jan 2010 till now completing pre reqs to set me up for a variety of schools, none of which accepted me. and others I didnt make the cut off for.

When starting at Bauder, the classes are all lock step, meaning that all courses are taking in the same term as your other class mates. so if you have all but 1 class, then you only take 1 class till the next term. the first 3-4 terms ( all of which are 7 weeks each). the terms here are 7 weeks on with 2 off in between.

As for the quality and success of the program I have no comment, as I have not experienced that. but I imagine it has to have a quality and standard cirriculum. but that remains to be seen. I would expect they are woking out a few bugs here and there. as long as they get the passing scores they need for the nclex it will be worth it. I am looking forward to this Program.

just have a bit of patience,,, Good Luck to all

WOw great info, thanks for your response! Do they perform the interviews the day of the info session or thats scheduled later? is the test the same day? should i be prepared to pay app fees the day of? I would really like to get into the aug start day...even though i heard its full, that would be amazing to get in. I hope november is still available. I am willing to pay 30k+ at this point. youre right, i would be finished in 2013 and begin working, thank the lord. I should have alot of classes that will transfer in so Hopefully i wouldnt have to be 8-5

lfriese, if you don't mind me asking, was the cost reduced alot? I have SEVERAL classes that will transfer over as well.

the interview you have the day of the test is with the admissions counselor... this is how my experience went

day 1.. went to info session listened to lots of good info about the college... Bless her heart Ms Lanier gave a wonderful presentation, again lots of info... write down any questions and hold them till the end, she is pretty thorough that takes a couple of hours, then we all go over to do the wonderlic, its kinda like a mini kaplan, teas , hobet, whatever you have experienced. then you find out your results, your admissions person will go over things in a bit more detail, at this point you may feel like the prized cattle being shuffled one after another through the process. It is actually nice because so many people get evaluated and informed in rapid succesion (sp) then you get a bit of 1 on 1 with financial aid. if all went well your admissions advisor will set up your Kaplan exam Mine was 2 days later. hopefully by now you have a good basic math and reading, I dont know if it is necessary,I amagine they may look a bit at science and grammar as well.My grammar (punctuation), as you can see in my writing here, always lowers my overall score. I only missed 1 question in the 2 sections the look at, my overall was an 81. if you want to you can get the suggested book 978-1-4195-5034-8 it is the Kaplan Nursing Schools Enterance Exams book and is like 19.99 full retail. and will help for all other exams. I got mine after the test so I could use it for other exams if necessary.

Two days later Kaplan exam ..... Long test, the program has a built in calculator that you can use, and only that calculator. wait a short time for all the results to tranfer over to where ever go meet with your admissions person, if you score above the necessay level you are eligible for LPN, and abovethe next level you are elegible for the RN program. she will give you the Next batch of papers at this point get the drug test, and background check ASAP( this is a major thing it is what helped me secure my spot in under 1 month). If all was good she will also be scheduling your Nursing interview, Mine was less than a week later. every one was super nice and mostly organized, I cant remember, but I think this was also supposed to be my financial aid final day but my situation is different, but either way get that done as thourough as possible. If you didnt do your fafsa online yet either do it befor going to the info session o, or bring your taxes with you, cuz at one of the days they log you in and have you do it. if you did it previously be sure to add their school code if you havent already done so. I think the only person that doesn't put on a fake happy face is the the guy receptionist, he is just who he is... I bet some days he wishes that phone wouldnt ring again after the first 1000 calls...lol

day of the Nursing interview... I was so nervous, I never had an interview, relax it wasnt too bad, it was not too intense, a lot of questions, same ones asked of everyone, not a panel interview, WHEW! Just 1 on 1. then you go and wait what seems like forever.... for the call, yes it was a call.... I still think maybe I was dreaming. I didn't get anything in the mail yet. so now I wish there was one of the current students filling me in on the rest of what to expect. It is hard to get a person to answer the pnones there, I imagine it is crazy with only 2 weeks left till classes start. and the woord of mouth travels like wild fire amongst us nursing hopefulls, so the probably have thousand contacting them about future start dates. Additionally they had run ads on tv. goodness they are going to be swamped. Hopefully I helped someone out there to relax and fele more confident about the process. OH those who are already LPN you do not have to take the wonderlic. I dont know about the kaplan. the registration fe is minimal like 35-45. but they had a special in July, maybe even now for $10. that is paid at the second visit I think. remember ther is no additional fees during the whole acceptance proces not even for the kaplan.... btw if you start in Nov 2011 you will be done by April/May of 2013 it is 7 terms they have 5 terms in a year, so it is an accelerated pace. for me I have 3 terms in one financial aid year and 4 in the next. They Participate in Hope, Pell. Fed Loans and seog, So based on your financial aid pkg it may not be as bad as ONE thinks. That part is very individualized, but if your EFC is 0 on your fafsa, and you are HOPE eligible, you may have little to no out of pocket depending on your previous courses.

figure a reduction of about 300-350 per credit hour accepted in.... my cost was cut almost in half I had 9 of the 22 classes, and have an exceptionaly light load for the first 3 terms, as they are mostly Pre reqs, my first term I only have a 2 credit course college success, which I took this summer assuming it would transfer in but it doesnt because they have an additional component that is specific to their college procedures...Arrg.

I wish there was a way to move this info to a page with a bit nicer title. like info about Bauder colleg or Any one hear of... BTW, they are not fully accredited with the Nursing board Just like any new school everything hinges on the success of the first batch to take the NCLEX which will be a bit over a year away. Dont let that scare you, just be aware it is a process
