Hi all! This thread hasn't been started that I see. I am looking ahead at schools to apply this this next year. Barry is one of them. I'm having trouble locating a 600 level chemistry course... I haven't found a local university that teaches grad level chemistry with lab. If they do, I have to take some of their pre req classes. Which would put me back in applying a lot.
I called the office and I was told there are schools that do it, however I was not able to get any names. Any help or someone that can provide further explanation? None of the online schools teach graduate chemistry as well.
It seems they just changed this requirement in the middle of last years application cycle- per other threads. They used to be okay with just general chem.
"Successful completion (grade B or better) of one graduate-level college chemistry course (600 level and above) with a laboratory component. The course (not laboratory component) must have been taken within five years of beginning the Program. Organic chemistry or biochemistry is strongly preferred. In addition, one previous additional science/mathematics course (examples include anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, physics, genetics, statistics, and algebra) is required"

I got in interview in June but got waitlisted and this has been the LONGEST wait of my life.
Can you clarify?
Do you mean you interviewed in June, but they waitlisted you? So, you now have to wait until the end of interview season to see if you get a spot?
I'm sorry I don't know how to respond to you directly. Yes. I interviewed with them beginning of June and then got waitlisted. So they told me I could hear from them any time until last week of April. And I'm dying. I was just curious if anyone knew how many students have accepted a seat for next year.

Wow, that will be a long wait. Frustrating is the only thing I can say. So sorry.
I don't think it matters how many have accepted a seat. I say that because they will still interview for a while to fill spots.
I think what may matter more is who has accepted a seat, but may decline it later in the cycle because they were accepted to another program they prefer. That is where you might move up and grab a spot in the class. I wish you luck!

Thank you so much! I still have a potential LONG 7 months of waiting for a response. Congrats on getting accepted! Which location did you choose?

Yes! I agree. I applied April 1st and when I got waitlisted after the interview I pretty much was like well I have a long wait ahead of me. I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Congrats on getting accepted and thanks for the kind words. I have heard current students say the same thing - where seats may come available towards the end if students get accepted into other schools.
Kbag said:CTB, did you ask, or can you find out what spot you are on the waitlist? If you are at the top spot that might work in your favor. I am just thinking you interviewed early and maybe you might be.
I did ask if the waitlist was ranked - which they said no. They said with each opening for a seat they will review the waitlist candidates and pick the strongest one if applicable 🤷♀️

I hope you get in! I know the waiting must be frustrating but I hope it's worth it in the end. If you don't mind me asking, do you feel like your interview did not go well, and that it may be why you were waitlisted? The reason I'm asking is bc I interviewed, and I'm waiting to hear back but I'm nervous because I'm not sure how well I did. I think I answered the EI questions well but there was 2 clinical questions I got wrong.

That is rough. Just keep watching the thread and living your life. So many people apply to countless schools and there is always movement. Remember you are really close to a spot and closer than everyone else that is just waiting to hear from them.

How long ago was your interview? Have you been waiting a long time to hear back from them?
