What did everyone think of the quiz and interview this morning?? I kind of choked on the quiz, but I think my interview went well. Hopefully the interviewers think it went well also!
RN Kay, my GRE scores put me at the 73rd percentile, and my essay score however was really bad. Under normal circumstances I feel like I'm really good with words and written articulation, but thirty minutes to write a polished essay simply isn't enough time for me. My GPA was about 3.2 because I didn't take school seriously during my first degree (I have a Bachelor's degree in psychology)/was young and immature in my early twenties.
Beyond that, I can't say what exactly interviewers look for, but to me I think a huge part of the selection process is the interview - as all of us already know, skills and clinical knowledge can be taught to just about anyone, but you can't teach someone how to be a leader, how to work well with other members of a team; and good work ethic can't be learned - you either have it or you don't. Those are things that can't be quantified in statistics.
Thanks @Jrman.edu and @fau2013.
My application was submitted April 22nd, a few days prior to the interview April 24th, so I missed that one. As of last week they had not scheduled any further interview sessions. Im curious as to how many people they already accepted because they didn't wait for the application deadline to pass- ie. they accepted without seeing the whole applicant pool.
I guess I'm just being impatient :)
Either way, I am very happy for you guys, you must be so excited!
RNkay my stats are GPA 3.55(first degree sucked), GRE 150 verbal, 148 Quant, 4.0 essay. I know someone that had lower GRE scores and was asked to retake as a provision. Don't fret too much, you'll get the interview. From another post you already have your CCRN so you're good to go. I thought I bombed the interview...really. I think that they look at the whole picture. Anything missing from your file is added as a provision that you have to complete before orientation in January.
As far as the intake, they've only done 3 interviews so far. Early Jan, March, April. I'm pretty sure they still have plenty of vacancies. Last year, they conducted their interviews until December. I know this because I asked and also if you read previous blogs, interviews were being conducted in June. It is worrisome, we've all been there. Take it easy though as your chance will be here sooner than later. Plus you already have a back up plan at FIU :).

Thanks RNKay. 24 of us were interviewed in April. All of us received letters on the same day last week. They're probably busy processing the paperwork that goes along with the acceptance, plus the head start program is set to begin soon. We'll know the number of people that were accepted in January as there's a week long mandatory orientation session. Call the graduate school where you submitted your paperwork and ask when the next interview is. Denise Deen or Matt will update you as they know.
