Barry University CRNA 2024 Start

Published

Didn't see anyone post here, so posting to open a discussion since the application cycle is coming up soon!  Any one else applying for Summer of 2024?

Specializes in ICU.

Current Barry SRNA. Confirming the above comment is accurate. There has been a lot of faculty turnover at Barry unfortunately. Since December, the program has lost 6 of their professors (many of which formed the staple of the program) and 1 that retired. The admissions assistant and administrative assistant quit within the last few weeks. There is another staple faculty member who is planning on leaving by the end of this year. The one professor that retired last year decided to come back to Barry to help cover some classes until the program leadership figured something out with their staff. It has been a mess. I think they are figuring out what they will be doing as far as admissions go for next year to see who will be able to teach what. I hope the program shapes up by the time this cohort comes into live classes in January 2025. My suggestion for many of you where the only money spent was on an application fee and possibly a program seat reservation, keep your options open.

Thank you so much for the insight. Do you have any idea as to why so many faculty have left?

Hi y'all, I just received interview. Very excited! I put Ocala as my first choice, so I would like to know how much Ocala seats left in this cohort if someone knows. Also, Would anyone like to share some advice about the interview?

Specializes in MICU, CICU, CCU, SICU, NICU, ICU Float Pool.

Did you get an email or a phone call for the interview?

I have spoken with a couple of faculty members since they have left, and it all seems to point back to issues with the leadership of the program (program director, dean of the college of nursing, and the chair for the anesthesia department). I am not privy to any specific instances, but that is the overall message I have gotten as far as the mass exodus of professors leaving Barry.

Has this affected your classes as a student?  Are there teachers leaving mid semester?  Other than the staff turnover do you still recommend the program?
