Baptist School of Health Professions- Spring 2016

Published

I hadn't seen a thread for the spring 2016 admissions, just wondering if theres anyone else out there!

:)

no, haven't gotten emailed yet...today she said the board still hasn't sent some names

Oh man that sucks :(

So for anyone who is still waiting to get their fingerprints done, just wanted to let y'all know I received my blue card today. Did my fingerprints last tuesday, so it 7 days, not counting the weekend. Didn't take nearly as long as I thought.

Oh good! I still haven't got my email but I'm not worried since yours got back so quick, and Rebecca said if we didn't have it on time we could do another background check which takes like two minutes online, but obs. we still need these

I don't think it'll take long once you do it unless the holidays slow things down. I actually ended up getting two blue cards in the mail. I got one the day after. I got my first.

Hello everyone. I am in the fall 2015 cohort. I will be one semester ahead of you in the spring. If you have any questions that you might be wondering and about what you could expect in the first semester feel free to ask! You will find that this program is amazing and the instructors are as well.

What supplies will we need? And is there a policy on color of the stethoscope we can have? Like can we have whatever color we want?

Prob the most important thing you will need are your books. But for clinical supplies you can get any stethoscope color you want. When you go to student success day/ luncheon they will have a preorder for a stethoscope/penlight/ and scissors. It's about 95$ and it's a decent littman 2 stethoscope. If you preorder the stethoscope they will have a bunch of different colors you can pick from. I wouldn't recommend getting a crazy expensive one unless you want to and can afford it. The only time you are gonna use the stethoscopes is auscultations for lung sounds so the rest of the clinical day in first semester it stays in the pocket. They will also have t shirts for sale. You can wear the school shirts with scrub bottom to class lecture days so it kinda breaks up having to wear a scrub top for lecture.

That's awesome we can wear school shirts. Less scrub tops to buy. What medical dictionary do most people use? Thanks for answering questions!

I'd still get scrub tops cause you have to wear scrub tops during clinical. I don't have a medical dictionary. The med-surg book and potter and perry nursing book they require you to have has tons of information for the disease processes and info you would need.

This is off topic. But I just wanted to see how everyone is doing as far as ordering textbooks. I have 3 so far and started reading up on topics. And FYI I found a website, if you didn't already know about this , that gives cash back for books! Directtextbook.com uses this cash back program where your order eligible gooks and it gives you back 10%. So far, I received a check for 11.50. I just wanted to share since at this point, any little bit helps. :)

I've ordered three books off of Amazon and one off of chegg. I still have to get the one book that requires the study guide and DVDs. The bookstore in town that does the combo deal seems to be the cheapest so far for that.
