Banner Health's student id badge

Published

I am currently a block 2 student over at boswell and now that it is finally banner, our badge has changed. i noticed that there is an expiration date on the badge and a colored border on the picture. is that to distinguish us from the different blocks?

Specializes in MSICU.

The border differentiates your badge from others and lets people know you are a student

Royal blue- volunteers

Green- students

Yellow- Residents

Pink- Physicians

Orange - contract service providers

I am not too sure about the expiration date. My badge has 3/12/09, my graduation date.

ah....as far as the date on the front of the badge, mine has 05-31-09 but i dont grad till 05-2010...must be a typo.

No, thats when your clinical rotation at banner will end; at the same time your computer access will expire. By setting a determined expiration date, banner has a way of ensuring students who fail the program no longer have access to facilities/computer programs. If you pass, they'll reissue you computer/hospital access; but probably not a new badge, as the date in the computer system is what everything goes off of.

Makes sense. But why put an expiry date on the badge? Did your badge have em too? One way or the other, they will know if you failed the course or not and take away all the computer access of the facility. Better if they put the grad date like the other poster said here, which she had on her badge. Not a big deal to me...I was just curious to find out what the date is for on the badge:)
