Banner Good Sam

Published

I currently live in Ohio (so very cold, so very hot) and am looking to move to AZ. I am talking with banner good sam about their critical care internship and wondered what you guys could tell me about this hospital. What are their ratios for med/surg and also for critical care? What kind of reputation do they have? They mentioned that there is a sign on bonus for living within a certain distance of the hospital, so how is the neighboerhood? Any other info you can think of would be appreciated. Thanks.

I work the 11th floor. Frankly, my experience has been the total opposite of the comments listed here. If I want to stay at Banner working in an adult ICU, I wouldn't change to another unit/Hospital. That doesn't mean it is perfect - but most of the RN(s) are extremely helpful and management has never given me a problem. Docs are generally respectful. Some personalities don't mesh with the unit, but you will find that anywhere...Just one opinion in a sea of many.

:heartbeat:heartbeat:heartbeatWere you a new grad starting on the ICU at Banner?. . .because sometimes I think how you are treated depends on if you are a new grad or have some experience under your belt:heartbeat:heartbeat:heartbeat

Specializes in post surgical, tele, icu.

I had almost a year of tele experience...lots of med passing and little chance to put things together to get a big picture. I went in enthusiastic and made it a point to bring in baked goodies. My preceptor was nice to me, so were a husband/wife travel team. It's just a shame nurses are allowed to bully other nurses. Happens all too often. Not everyone is fortunate enough to have a support system, so the cycle of burnout continues.

Specializes in generalMedical surgical; MICU/SICU/CVICU.

Not necessarily true. Nurses with years of experience come in and are treated lousy along with the new grads, so I dont think anything about new grad vs. experience has any grounds for how you are treated.

A new grad - as green as can be...
