Band 7 job interview - neonatal unit

I really need help! I have an interview on monday for a permanent band 7 post in nnu, i currently have the role as acting sister.

What questions will I be asked?? - I know I will have to give a presentation, but havnt yet been given the subject

Hi Raye, I don't know anything about NICU

Standard management questions I would ask would be around clinical leadership, positive role models and your vision for the unit.

Performance targets would be something that is worth looking into, think about infection rates, pressure sore prevalence, compliments and complaints,

You may need to deal with capacity issues and how you would manage that, clinical scenarios, what would you do if......

Management of performance issues, thinking about capability and conduct issues in your staff, how would you deal with sickness issues, complex HR issues that kind of thing

My presentation is on what impact does the sister in charge have on provision of newborn services - i was looking at it in terms of providing excellent care, and what I can do as a manager to ensure this is done. Do you think this is the right way to look at it??

Sounds good, address some key elements such as clinical leadership, efficient and effective services,

What local and national drivers do you have, are there government objective for NICU make sure you mention them.

You will have performance indicators so mention those in your presentation.
