Ball State MSN-FNP program

Considering the Ball State program and looking for feedback from anyone familiar with it.

Specializes in cardiac.

I'm also considering the MSN-FNP program. I know that the program is completely online with the exception of clinicals. You typically take 1-2 classes at a time and have up to 6 years to complete the program. From research I've done so far you have assigned readings and then exams/quizzes at the end of each module. Previous students say that they have been able to work full-time while completing the program.

it's a fairly good program, but the content is entirely self-study. there are no lectures. sometimes there are videos from youtube and other sources. you do have to find your own clinical sites, preceptors, and a clinical supervisor each semester, which can be stressful. let me know if there's anything else you want to know!

Thanks Cauliflower. I'm not bothered by the self-study aspect of the program - this seems to be the trend and in any event, is something I'm familiar with from my RN-BSN program a few years back. I used to be bothered by having to handle all the aspects of the clinicals but it seems that this too is the trend, even with traditional programs such as the one offered at my alma mater. I presently volunteer at two different nurse-managed clinics and will be looking to personnel there for help with clinicals.

Ball State meets all of my important criteria: It is a brick-and-mortar institution, is nationally ranked, is a major research facility and has reasonable tuition.

A couple of questions for you: How are you familiar with the Ball State program? Are (or were) you in it or associated with it? Thanks in advance.
