I am finishing up my pre-reqs at Baker College of Flint and will be applying to the program in the Spring. I've heard the cut-off last time was around a 22 and since I'm a transfer student, I'm already down to a 21. I don't want to put all my eggs in one basket and was wondering where else some other Baker students were applying. Thanks!

Welcome to all nurses!
There are a TON of posts about baker in the michigan forum (we're an active chatty bunch over there). There were a few gals who applied in this last admissions round and weren't accepted.... I've heard many people who are very upset about Baker. They all felt very misled, and that's not a good feeling especially when you're paying so much for classes. Many schools also won't transfer classes from Baker because they're 10 weeks...
The cut off was 22.63 out of 24 for the fall 08 class at Baker. But just because your score is lower than that doesn't mean you shouldn't apply. You never know who else is applying and you may have a very solid score compared to other applicants.
The points system at Baker makes admissions fairly difficult. One student in the MI forum had a 4.0 and was not accepted into the RN program.... The one student with a 4.0 applied and was accepted to Macomb Community College's RT program and I don't know if she decided to take the spot or if she is going to apply to MCC's RN program next year. I believe the other gal is also planning to apply to MCCs RN program.
Macomb is also EXCEEDINGLY difficult to get into. Pretty much you have to have a 4.0 and score above a 92 on the HESI entrance test to earn a slot at their program.... Actually I guess those girls were probably applying at the Clinton Twp campus I assume since they're now applying to Macomb. I'm not sure if all this info is just for the clinton twp Baker campus, if it varies by campus etc.
Since you're up in Flint, Mott Community College has a very good program, although they're a waitlist school. I think you should really put your name on their list. It's a guaranteed spot if you meet the criteria and it's a good back up if you aren't accepted into a school with competitive admissions.
I'd also look into UofM Flint's nursing program too. Oakland Community College now does competitive/ GPA based admissions. The nursing program is at the highland lakes campus in Waterford so that is about a 40 min drive, but that's not too far that it's not a viable option. Their deadline is December 15 for fall admissions. I would attend an info session and speak with an admissions counselor there as well.
Good luck and come on over to the Michigan forum. As I said there are lots of threads about Baker, one or two about UofM flint, as well as lots of other great info and great people. Hope to see you in the regional forum soon:nurse:

Thank you so much for the info, I'm going to set up an appointment this week at a couple other campuses to see what my options are. =]

If things do not workout for someone at Baker, best thing is to keep trying, I would never give up especially if you did your work. There are other places that you may apply to such as HFCC and OU

Take a look on SVSU in Saginaw if you're interested in BSN. 6 semesters long, no wait list, reasonable admission requirements, gorgeous new lab and good conditions overall.
