back on the horse...

Hi. Can anyone tell me what would prepare me most for the ER--MICU, SICU, tele, or IR (interventional radiology)?

Long boring story, I did 3 mos in ER, but on LOA for now, and interviewing for these other depts.

I loved the ER, but got into a mess with the manager. I won't work in this particular ER again until this manager is GONE. I have never had a problem in all the years I've worked at this hospital, with ANYONE in any dept (I've worked a few, med/surg, oncology). I can't convince myself that I will be happy working anything but ER, no matter how hard I try...

Sorry if I sound bitter (it's b/c I still am a little--but working it out:mad: )

Also, I'm worried I'm losing the training I got in the ER (I did complete ACLS, critical care, etc)--is there something I can do to keep up my skills and knowledge while still at home (besides all the reading I'm doing!!)?

Thanks for any suggestions,

noelle

I would think that any ICU will keep your skills up. In fact, you will probably improve your assessment skills. Anyway, once you return to ER you will get back in the grove quickly.

Do you (or anyone here) know anything about interventional radiology (IR)nursing? Don't you need ICU or ER first?

Thanks.
