Several programs across the country offer a Bachelors in Emergency Medical Services, a 4-yr degree which allows the graduate to sit for the state/national paramedic exam. Other programs offer an Associates (AS or AAS) in EMS, 2 yr degrees that prepare graduates for the paramedic exam. I believe there are also "certificate" programs that prepare & allow you to sit for the exam but don't confer a degree of any type.
So it really isn't "beyond" paramedic school, just a different level of education for those in EMS.
***EMS folk, please chime in...I'm certainly not an expert! Just speaking from knowing about my RN/EMT-P spouse's education!***
i thought i had seen somewhere in a thread (which i can't find now of course!) that someone said that they had obtained this degree. can't find reference to it anywhere...does this actually exist? Would this be something beyond paramedic school-in that direction? Just wondering! Thanks guys!:)
