Baby 17 days & rolling over!?

I can't think of this as a milestone, because in class our instructor mentioned possible seizures..does anyone else have experience on this? I don't want to offend a friend.

If this is for your friend's child, they should be consulting with their pediatrician to determine if this is an early milestone or a medical concern. Offering insight into a friend's child development is a big risk, especially if a. you are wrong, or b. you aren't sure and it turns out to be a medical condition, this can ruin your friendship. (Hence why on allnurses.com the terms of service prohibit requesting or offering medical advice for members or someone a member knows)

These are standard pediatric milestones from the North Carolina Department of Health & Human Services: http://www.ncdhhs.gov/dma/capc/Milestones.pdf

If you were asked, you can always say "Why not check with your pediatrician, if nothing else most pediatricians like to keep accurate timelines of when a child hits developmental milestones?"

As per the Terms of Service we cannot offer medical advice. As a nursing student it would probably be best if you allowed your friends pediatrician make the babies evaluations about milestones.

Every baby is different. Every baby can accidentally push off and roll off a table which is why you should NEVER turn your back on a baby or leave it unattended. Odds are this is perfectly fine for this baby and you will unnecessarily frighten the mother.

Just because a baby does a milestone early or late doesn't mean something is sinister is happening.

I think it is best to leave what you learn in school...in school and enjoy your friend new arrival.

Great advice! I told her to check with her pediatrician!"
