Hello there!

I'm in my 5th semester at APU for SCAN program and will take NCLEX this May. I think I can answer your question. SCAN and EENAP are both designed for people with previous BS degree in something else other than Nursing. SCAN program is longer because you'll get BSN and MSN at the end with 3 options (NP or CNS or both). The first 5 semesters are called pre-licensure courses, then you take NCLEX and become a RN, then you take additional 10-12 courses for MSN. With EENAP, you'll get a BSN after 5 semesters. Then, you can go with additional route for MSN portion (usually 2 years). Both routes work well depending on your goal. If you have more questions, please feel free to ask. Thank you!! That was a very helpful answer. I applied to the EENAP program a couple of weeks ago, not having known about SCAN. I was afraid I applied to the wrong program, but it sounds like both of them will get me to my goal. The only thing that confused me was that both are listed as Masters programs, but all of the information I was reading about EENAP was referring to the BSN portion of it. The website lists the EENAP program as consisting of 66 units, but that's obviously not including the masters portion, right? Although it does list the program as taking an average of 3 years to complete...

Thank you again! I was afraid to ask the school, since I didn't want to look like a dim wit for applying to the wrong program. You're right though, they are super nice and helpful. I'm sure they wouldn't think anything of it if I asked them my question. I just wish I would have asked before I applied! :)

The EENAP program is 15 months long, and when you complete it you will have your BSN. You then have two years to start the MSN portion of the program, and are not required to re-apply (if you choose to go on to the MSN portion that is). The SCAN program is a full 3 years i believe, you go through the entire program, and upon completion you have both your BSN and MSN. The only difference as far as I understood it, was that the EENAP program you will have up to a two year break between the BSN and MSN, whereas the SCAN goes straight through. Hope this helps.

Hi smallykitty00!

I was wondering how hard it is to get into the SCAN program or EENAP? I don't have any volunteer experience yet and I wonder if that's going to be my downfall. =( Also, if I decide not to do the MSN at APU, is that ok? Can I just stop at BSN?

The reason why I'm asking is because my fiance is going to school for his doctorate and he may be done in about a year or so and we're most likely to move out of state.

Does anyone know anything about reapplying to Azusa? I just got got a denial letter =( It stinks! I know it was due to my BS GPA, which was 2.8. I really wanted to get into the EENAP, but now that I have read the information about the SCAN program, I am leaning more towards that. If anyone has any information on how to reapply or if they accept re-applications I would really appreciate. Also, for those of you who got in, do you have any advice for me? I am planning on calling the office this week to see what my options are.

What other schools are you looking at in SD? Thanks and Congrats!

D= I'm so sorry about your denial letter. =( Did they even say why? Did you have a lot of volunteer experience? (That's my main downfall.)

As for other SD programs, I only know of the SDSU accelerated BSN program as well as National University program (for those with Bachelors degrees). I'm not in San Diego but I know that these exist. Not sure about the requirements however.

Hi Dixielou,

Congratulations! =) I am seriously thinking about going into the EENAP or the SCAN program as well. There's a really good chart that compares the two programs:

I would think that doing EENAP would mean that you could work for a while as a nurse after getting your BSN and then wait up to 2 years before getting the MSN and deciding on what specialty to go into. SCAN seems like you go right into doing your masters. I like SCAN because it provides you with the Internship. So once again, congratulations and God Bless!!! =) :yeah:

Can you share how you were accepted? Did you have a lot of volunteer experience? All "A's" for your pre-requisites? Enquiring minds want to know! =D

Hi!

I have an interview with Azusa in April and Im nervous. Can anyone tell me how the interview process is like? Someone I volunteered with said it was easy for her and that she just spoke with an adviser and that was her interview?? I'm confused if there is actually one or not. Can someone share me their experience?
