AZ License renewal but living in KS! :(

Hi, everyone! I haven't worked as a nurse for 3 years now and I just got a notification from AZBoN that my license is up for renewal. I don't know if I want to return to nursing, but I would like the option, so I wanted to keep my license up to date. The problem is that now I live in Kansas. My husband moved our family here because of his military service and I'm not sure how to go about renewing my license now.

Do I transfer my current licence to KS and then renew from here?

Do I try to find an online program and then do a preceptorship here?

Will anyone even LET me preceptor with them if I've been out of the workforce for so long??

Any advice is appreciated. Thank you!

AZ requires 960 hours (equivalent to roughly 6 months full-time work) within the last five years for renewal, otherwise you could apply to put your license in inactive status. KS BON's website is not helpful so you'd need to get in touch with them about whether they have a practice requirement for licensure by endorsement. Not sure what kind of online program/preceptorship you're talking about.

We were stationed at Ft. Riley for a few years, and when my license came due for renewal (from MO), I just renewed my MO one and used that on post. They didn't make me get endorsed in KS.

I don't however know the requirements for the KS endorsement or AZ renewal, but Coffee Nurse has that part covered. If you have the 6 months of full time work experience required by AZ within the last 5 years, I would go ahead and renew that one and work on post when the bug hits you. I will warn you though, sometimes it can be very hard to get a spot on post because they go through hiring freezes. There are a lot of clinics at Ft. Riley though since it's a rapid deploy post. That should help.
