Average TEAS Score Acceptance

If I hypothetically had not called the school to find out what a "typical" or average score was, and had no baseline for comparison of my score, I'd definitely retake it if I got anything less than 99. After all, in this hypothetical situation, I am asking random nurses on the internet who may have taken the TEAS 15 years ago, what score they got accepted with, even though I just took the brand-new TEAS 6. In this hypothetical situation, I have no idea what score will or not will be good, so I'll need to take the TEAS again in hopes of getting a better score, since I do not know what a good score is, only that I can get a better one.

If it were not a hypothetical situation, and I were actually living this situation, I would call the school and ask. No one on here has any clue what score will help you, since every school, every year, is different. Admissions will generally tell you a "typical range" of scores, what the "cutoff" score is, or something else that is useful. No one here can offer any advice that actually applies to you; only the school can.

The "hypothetical" part was specifically if you scored an 87, would you be happy with that score or try to improve it? Which is why I phrased it exactly the way that I did and did NOT say that the entire situation was hypothetical. Also, I have called my school advisor and she said she's having a meeting today about this specific subject, and that she would get back to me. I'm not the one who doesn't have a frame of reference- it's my school- because as I said in my post (did you even read it?) this is my schools first year using the teas as a ranking system. So don't assume that someone hasn't already exhausted all their options for gathering information before you go off on them via the internet because you don't have anything better to do. You also assume that I don't already understand that anecdotes or requirements/averages of other schools will not guarantee anything for me- Yes, I am fully aware of this, but that doesn't stop me from wondering what's going on in other places. If you're so annoyed and put out by my post, move along. I'm honestly kind of amused that my perfectly reasonable question (which was: what is the average score of accepted applicants for ADN programs at your school?... since you apparently didn't comprehend my post...) annoyed you so much that you couldn't help but lash out. Good job, you're really going places.

I was put on a wait list with a GPA of 3.33, previous bachelor's degree, and an 89 on the TEAS. This was for a BSN program.

my nursing school, a CC offering an ADN:

I can't remember the EXACT number they gave me for the average.... but it was 72 or 77%, 70-something!

I made an 84%.... The nursing adviser said I did not have to take it again, also the proctor said it was the highest score she had personally seen.

The minimum score you could make was 63%, but that sure don't mean you'd be accepted.

They also stress GPA and do not like seeing any B's. My GPA is 4.0

I will not know about my acceptance until sometime in February.

But that is my best answer on my school's average!

Do you know how the score will be used? Meaning, some schools have a point system that is weighted, with Pre-Req GPA, last 60 units GPA, TEAS Scores, and letters of rec all considered. Also, does the school have a minimum TEAS score set for students? All of these things can be used to determine how your score will fare in comparison to others. Is the program generally considered competitive? That is also another consideration.

All that being said, an 87 is pretty solid, and you would probably have to spend a significant amount of time to improve that score, but if the program is generally considered highly competitive then it might be worth doing.

I had a 3.5 GPA and a 79 on my TEAS and wasn't accepted into my first choice school, but was accepted into my second. My first choice school was strictly point-based off GPA and TEAS score, while my second also awarded points for essay questions and a panel interview.
