Got into LVN school. Found out about my 27 year old DUI. Will they yank me now?
They will let me take the test. I'm a mountain builder out of mole hills! haha

Get my adn or lpn? Newbie here
(ADN's have been "phasing out" for at least 30 years now. Don't believe everything you hear.) Don't believe this. They need nurses everywhere and a ADN will get a job just as fast as a BSN. 30 years. If true it's the slowest phase out in the 4.6 billion years of earths existence. Dinosaurs phased out faster. Totally subjective comment.

Where could one find that research on new grads and relapse/addiction?

Freaking out about HESI A2
You can't be a 4.0 and be dumb lol. You'll do fine. I knew we could take the test twice in an application period. So I studied hard. First time I did well. Turned in my scores and the coordinator said oh these will do fine. Not satisfied and with "experience" I took it again. Aced it. Nothing replaces experience and confidence. Maybe your program lets you take it twice. Seriously it's easy. Hope you post after you take so you can tell us "wow I was freaking out over nothing". Now lets restart the freaking out...NCLEX!

Celebrate Recovery
I start school in January and I've been in recovery along time. I've worked in rehabs and been to kajillion AA and NA meetings. There is a nurse, doc there in every meetings it seems. When you get a chance share. Tell the group your deal and I bet someone will approach you after the meeting. Family is great but sometimes that's the problem or part of it. Find a somebody that knows what you're going threw. Believe me when we are helping others we are helping ourselves more! I'm not a big book thumper but parts are freaking spot on. Good luck and so find someone you can just talk to with no strings attached.

Where are all the "older" nurses?
Take-downs? What's a take-down? Just like it sounds? Like MMA style? They teach that in school?

Where are all the "older" nurses?
Awesome I wanna work for you!

Where are all the "older" nurses?
That's a shame. Guess it's the bottom line in everything. I don't care I'm still gonna do it and do it well. The little that I have been allowed to help has helped me 10 fold.

Where are all the "older" nurses?
Not that it makes a difference but I'm a man. That work in my favor? 900 seconds between post...who's idea was that? 639 to go....606. What if I had a humanity changing thought right after a post and forgot to write it down in 900 seconds? 559.....505. Who knew a second was soooo long? Now I'm mad at myself for wasting my comment time on my first lame comment....426. Is this a micro look at the "red tape" healthcare comes with? 358...oh Lawdy...wth man get the president on the line! 277. need to start a whole new thread on the injustice of the 900 second rule!!! 230. Ok what could a good nurse get done in 900 seconds? 165. Geez rather be water boarded! Wars have been won in less time! 112... Ok double digets here I come! I'm gonna party like it's 9 seconds to go! 68 baby! I owned this! What did you accomplish over christmas break? Well let me tell you.......20 stared 900 seconds in the face and won!

Where are all the "older" nurses?
I'm a new nursing student. 2nd career. I'm 48. I've been doing a lot of student shadowing at my local hospital in the different departments lately and its been amazing! Everything from NICU to Cardiac Cath lab the whole gambit. One trend is a lot of 20 something early 30 something nurses. Both male and female. Primarily female. All very professional and knowledgeable. What happens to the 40 to 70 year olds? They make so much money they retire early? haha really?

No on the when in rome? Texas BON isn't a governing body that enjoys humor? Yeah you're right. I just the letter few days ago and spoke with a lawyer. That is something that I will explore. Lawyer I spoke with is a friend and not a nurse attorney. Some of the post I've read that even sealed records show up on background checks. Rather know before getting started. Funny thing is I'm taking a CMA coorifice right now. Have my CNA. Nothing on those. I'll still work with the public just not as a LVN if they won't let me. It's my calling and look forward to having a chance to help! Anyway thanks for looking and responding!

Got my background check back and the Texas BON found a reckless conduct from 1987 and DUI from 1990. Reckless conduct was racing and the other guy crashed. Unharmed. The DUI was when I was in the Army in Maryland. You know when in Rome. Classes start January 17, 2017. Will the school yank me and if not will the Texas BON let me sit for the exam? Would like to know before getting started. Hate to do it and then not able to practice. Insights???

CCMA vs. LPN...?
Just got my CCMA and it took 3 months with 2 days of 3 hours per day. LVN is 18 months with 5 days/week 6 hours a day.
